The World I Know

The world I know makes no sense.

First- the boxing analogy was idiotic.

Second- the judges are all on crack.

Third- I thought DC won the night, not Archuleta. I am not speaking as a Cook girl, but as a musician.

I'm not going to do side by sides or talk about song choice. This is what I'm going to say:

Both of those guys were exhausted. Both are showing signs of vocal fatigue. Both were not as good as they had been in the past.

That being said, I am truly frightened of poor Squinty's voice. He's reportedly due for surgery on that paralyzed vocal cord in the fall. It may not **** any good if his voice will be shot again by then.

DC's a pro and has no doubt done a hundred shows a year in the grand KC bar circuit ( and later the Tulsa bar circuit). But even he seems to be cracking under the pressure a bit.

That being said, this is one of the better finales. It's not Clay/Ruben, but it's also not like Fantasia/Diana ( talk about forcasted).

To the girls ( and Collin)- am I worried that DC was throwing it for himself? No. He was great. I'm now firmly entrenched in the conspiracy camp. I think Simon is trying to rally us to save our man. And that's what I'm going to do. Save him.

THE DEN CONTINUES TO GET DIALIDOL UPDATES! PLEASE KEEP CHECKING FOR THE NUMBERS!

Palais.....I am with you....DC was not throwing this......he was incredible.....we can still win this!

He was definitely not throwing this...just very emotional, tons of pressure. What po'ed me is that there was no mention from the judges of season long performances either...this isn't all about tonight. It's what each contestant has done over the last 4 mos to win us over.

I went back and watched Cookie's performances again. Maybe he's not "throwing it" but he didn't have the same spark...that's the only word I can think of. There was just a disconnect tonight in the songs, and two of those weren't his fault. You have to be a super actor and performer to hide distaste for material that is who you are as an artist, and I have feeling Cookie was fighting hard not to vomit all over Clive and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I really think they were fairly evenly matched going into the last song. A split decision, if you will. D.Cook was better on the first song. D'Archie had pitch problems from the jump. On the second song, D'Archie flipped the script. Both songs were crap, but I thought D.Cook did not sing his crap song well (pitchy, to borrow a phrase) and D'Archie did. So it all hung on the final song choice. And for me, D.Cook made a poor song choice. It was too low key. Vocal pyrotechnics win AI. That is how the game is played. It's Season 7. Everyone knows this. Look at the only exception to this rule, Taylor Hicks, Incredibly Shrinking AI Champion. D'Archie brought the runs and the glory notes and they were on point. And D.Cook's song was not showy enough to counter. I don't think he was throwing it. I do believe that's who he is as an artist. But who he is is not the kind of who that normally wins AI

I really get the vibe that something happened earlier behind the scenes - Simon giving his comment after the first song - go view it again.

Then cookie love all cryin' after that last song?

Did anyone see Adam in the audience...all accounts said he should be there - I didn't see him. DId you?

I am thinking maybe Adams health took a turn for the worse and that is what had our Cookie out of sorts.

I didn't see Adam in the audience either SoIntoItGirl....I am wondering if something happened...I really hope not!

Aug252006_893_lg

maybe Adam was backstage...might not have been well enough to sit in the audience. that would make him emotional.

Sep152006_897_lg

Scarlett - Me too, but you must admit somthing was just not sitting right. If Adam was there, you can be sure they would have had a least a glimpse of him on camera.

Cookie looked like his heart was broken from the beginning of the show.

I think there will be a story on this topic after the voting hours are over - you know how are Hottie NEVER wanted the Sympathy vote.

I've got a feeling and I am stickin with it.
We need to support him with our dial tones and txt fingers - more than ever now.

For Adams sake I hope I am wrong.

SiS -
Still think they would have caught a shot of him wherever he was, if at all possible.

Dial Idol says Cook to win!!!

Hey Den!!!

I thought DC was fan-freakin-tastic. The boxing theme was stupid. I can only imagine what DC was thinking during that - - KILL ME NOW.

I, too, was surprised by Simon's dismissal of DC. I loved it when DC shot back after the final song. I also bawled like a baby when he started choking up.

I am still wondering if Adam was there. Late breaking news on several sites yesterday revealed that he had arrived Monday AM and would be attending both shows. However, it was so dark in the audience it was hard to make out faces and god knows, I could pick his mother out of crowd before my own.

I think I voted maybe 70 times last night.
