Confessions of a Cook-a-holic

I shouldn't be writing from deep inside The Red Tent, but what's a girl to do when she should be in her season seat for the LA Galaxy watching BabyJesus(tm), oops, I mean David Beckham, but due to pending bionic-ness to repair an old dance injury, is not allowed to leave her house? (Thankfully there is dark chocolate and HDNet.)

I'm not a long-time fan of American Idol. I accidentally got sucked into the train wreck of the auditions one night on a break while setting up a sound studio. Channel surfing and snacking on Taco Bell we stumbled upon the insanity, and then Chris Daughtry walked in and sang The Letter. That was it. Last year wasn't as compelling though I quite enjoyed Melinda. Still, it was just a reality TV show, and as an actor, I'm not a huge fan of them for the selfish reason that it results in less work for many here in L.A. (But that is another rant for another time.)

However, something happened to me this year during season 7.

I wasn't immediately on the Cook Train, however, my younger (TheGods Plan) musician consort was aboard from David C's audition. I did find myself getting more interested with each week's performance.

Hello was very impressive, and it gave me pause. But it was during Billie Jean that I was run over by the CookSexOnAStickExpress(tm).

Then a funny thing happened. When I regained consciousness from my hormone-induced sexaliscious seizure, I found myself surrounded by fellow Cougars. It was like we all collectively had a switch go off somewhere in our psyches and found each other on the web.

What was it exactly? Was it that raspy, been up all night voice and the way he stroked his Les Paul? Was it those I know exactly how you like it ubersexy eyes he gave me, I mean the camera? Was it the unassuming, I'm probably getting myself voted off any second now but I'm never going to lose my dignity or my sense of humor attitude? Or was it the size 13 boots?

What ever it was, I stayed up like I was still a Disneyland employee working a Grad Night, and voted for four hours the week of the final - something I've never done before, (though thanks to my iPhone it was pretty easy.) We Cougar Goddesses have stamina. (Which can, at times, be a frustrating curse, but I'm not complaining, thanks to TheGods Plan.)

It's also the first time I've found myself missing that ridiculous show, and trolling the web for news articles, and my TIVO for upcoming interviews, just to get my David Cook FIX. Thankfully I had the foresight to download his recordings (thank you iTunes!)

The greatest part is, I'm not alone. I have my Cook-addicts support group, and I have to say, they are a bunch of smart, funny, talented, and classy dames. I'm so happy and honored to be in their company, the girls (and guy) of Tawanda's Den.

My name is Tally, and I'm a Cook-a-holic.

(OMG! Go BECKHAM! Thank you Gato for not being in goal - that also helped. LA wins 3 - 1!!! WOOOO!) Now, I need to finish watching Mr UberLucsious on Larry King, and his Big Brother Syndrome in regards to lil'D. That is pretty adorable.

Love you Tally!! Loved the finale-night IM/voting frenzy that we went on together. It was nice not be alone!! We west-coasters need to stick together!

Thanks for dragging me back down the rabbit hole.. I didn't need all the sexalicious reminders of what got me here in the first place... but you just spelled 'em out for me. Whewww... must. start. smoking.

I'll see you every Tuesday and Thursday for our Cookaholics meeting, gurls! And yes, I can admit I have a problem...

Mar72003_699_lg

Hi, my name is Palais, and I must admit that I am addicted to David Cook...

Mar162007_925_lg

I'm there too. And far too old for this foolishness! Maybe it will pass, like my previous obsessions...

"Hello" is what made me notice him first. And don't forget, the guy lost about 15lbs and got a much needed haircut during the course of his run. He kind of let his Inner Sex God emerge...

Is it tonite he is on Larry King again?

Sep292006_899_lg

Larry King again on Monday.

April132007_929_lg

And my name is ariadne and I too am addicted to MY CFM eyes...big surprise there.
Nicely done, girlfriend!
Larry King tomorrow night. Ellen on Tuesday. He's singing The World I know. I teared up in the ten second snippet I saw on her website. DAmn, I wish he'd release THAT as a whole single.

Sep152006_897_lg

I have a problem too - the whole SexyStrumminLicious obsession thing, but I am lovin' it!

Mar72003_699_lg

When is he on Regis and Kelly this week? I read it somewhere...

Mar252005_812c_lg

I think Regis is supposed to be Tuesday, 5/27

Mar162007_925_lg

Ariadne, check this out:

I posted it in a couple other comments, but damn, they should just release this version as a single...

Sep292006_899_lg

Saw that = have it on the TIVO = isn't it YUMMY??? And he's making THOSE EYES again!!! And that perfect note at the end, without any sleeeep!!!

He might actually have enough stamina to handle a cougar.

I am with you sister. A member of the den. My boss just asked me if I would go to the concert when the Idols came to Dallas. I guffawed and cringed at the thought of having to stand my aging arcye next to some 20 something in her halter top and fake ****. Then I thought about these blogs and the unbridled numbers of cougars waxing poetic about their big honkin donkey girl crushes for Sexonastick and thought, heh, we just might outnumber them.

I want to know how anyone knows what size those boots are? Size 13???? Really, Ladies, you know the rule on that one. Holy ****!!! Who says the size of the ship doesn't count.

Tally- I have to tell you I never voted on this show before either. I thought Melinda was the clear and present talent last year and was disappointed with another tween selection.

When I first saw Cookielicious (who's from KC- like me) I thought who is this with the crazy hair and bad wardrobe - and then he opened his mouth. Thank god for stylists. He's come a long way. My devotion never wavered even when his part did.

I was actually computer prohibitive this weekend. I have one at home, Windows 98 anyone and dial up- nuf said. So, I have missed the blogs for the last several days.

Thanks for the laugh and the opportunity to respond.

I liked DC's audition, and thought he did well during Hollywood week and all, but it was "Hello" that really made me sit up and take notice, at least musically.

I was a late bloomer as far as the whole silly cougar crush thing, I'm not even sure when it happened. I think he just slowly grew on me. It was only in the last couple of weeks I realized how sexy he was. And now I have to get over it before it even began!

thanks Bardgal fro allowing us to vent, now i gotta say...

Bitten it's all YOUR fault....you went and poured some sugah on that HAWT MOLTEN LAVA SEX TOY and i realized i couldn't hold back my inner cougar anymore. i broke outta my cage and attacked iTunes, next went my cell phone on tuesday night, now all things DC. GRRRRRRRR....

i just came inside from helping my SO bleed the brakes on his car. ladies if you don't know what that means, i pumped the brake pedal for about 10 minutes straight...i don't think i have to tell you what i was thinkin (all your fault Bitten).

THEN, i picked the absolute worst week to go off the pill. now my hormones are RAGIN and i can't stop thinking 'bout Mr Hottness. will i ever recover?????

btw, did anyone read the disgusting LA times article by Tom Oneil (sp) where he says DA will have a longer career than DC 'cause women think he's HOT!!???? WTF???? that man needs serious therapy. obviously he's never met a woman.
