My Musings on Hell's Kitchen (7/1)

It took me a few days to get a minute to write this blog, but - then there were 2...

Before I go on with this post - was I the only one who thought that this nights episode was THE finale?  (not part 1 of the finale?)   Based on the commercials calling tonight's show "the finale" - what else could I believe?  Allthough, I have to admit.  Last week I was wondering how they were going to fit the ENTIRE finale in one, one hour show.  Guess I was right.  Anyway...

At first I was really enjoying the flashbacks from earlier in the season that they were showing at the beginning of this episode.  (I hardly remember a few of those people!)  But then they went on.  And on.  And on.  Way to waste alot of time that couldve been used on the finale itself!    As my husband commented in the middle of the flashbacks..."these recaps suck."  Lol!

I've really been going back and forth as to who I want to win this season.  I'm waiting for Petrozza or Christina to do something great in the finale that may sway my vote one way or the other.  We'll see...

I couldnt wait to see P & C design their own restaurants.  I'm really interested to see what their personal idea's of the "perfect" restaurant's are -  from the decor, to the menu.

C worked really hard on her ideas, but P seemed really lazy about it at first.  I wasnt sure if I was suprised by P's attitude or not.  Lol.  The way he was handling it all at first kind of made me want to vote for C.  She seemed to be taking it ALOT more seriously.  Their final visions were complete opposites - from the servers uniforms, to their menu's.

When they flew to NY with Chef Ramsey - I didnt understand the big deal about the billboard-type thing up in Times Square.  It wasnt like their faces were on it or anything.  It just had the HK design & thier names.  Big whoop.

Both P & C's dishes in their challenge in Chef's restaurnt in NY sounded REALLY good.  It was really cool having some of Chef Ramsey's executive chef's from around the world as the judges.  They were really harsh - but that's their job.  I was hoping that C would pull a come from behind win - but P won the challenge.  It was really funny watching C try to look flirty towards the final judge!  And P's frustration when it looked like C was making a comeback was hilarious!  P's prize was a sweet one - he got to pick first from the eliminated chef's to be his sous chef's for the final challenge.

Back to the NY challenge itself for a minute.  So those other people in the restaurant - they just got to stand there and watch the executive chef's taste & judge the finalists dishes?  Oooo - fun.  And I'm sorry - but who really gave a crap that Whoopi Goldberg was there for one second to say "hi" to the finalists.  What the hell was that about?

Back to the fianle - P really loved the way his restaurant was turning out.  C really HATED hers.  Hey - she specificly asked for those stripes - what did she think it was gonna look like?  Personally - I thought P's vision for his restaurant's decor was better, but I thought C's menu sounded better.

Then the eliminated chef's came back to be picked by P & C to be their sous chef's in their final challenge.  Jen looked b*thcy as usual.  What a sore loser.  I'd be TERRIFIED if she ended up on my team.  You know she's gonna totally sabatoge whoever's team she's on.  If I had to pick a team - I'd want Corey and Louross, definatly.  Maybe Ben.  I wouldnt want Matt or Jen (obviously!  Lol!)  C picked Corey and Louross.  No shock there.  P picked Bobby.  No suprise there. either.  Now Jen and Matt are the only one's left.  Who's gonna be last picked on the playground?  We'll find out next week...

No you definately weren't the only one! What the hell Fox???
I knew Christina would be planning it all out like she die, but the whole nasty color scheme was awful! Who wants to eat with brown walls staring at you? Thinking of poo isn't the most appetizing thing! She totally told them to put up her striped wallpaper & was angry when they did just that! Get it together!
Petrozza...what can I really say? Just as I suspected he pulled his menu out of his butt last min. Chilean sea bass & sweetbreads. That's a shocker! I just can't get over his laid back attitude. This is the most important meal of his life & he's being lazy. I really can't see him giving orders & running a kitchen. Who would listen? He doesn't know how to be a leader!
Jen is soo full of herself! She actually thinks if she does a good job in THEIR final competition Ramsay will reward her b/c he made a mistake getting rid of her. Like she still has a chance to win-you lost b****. Get over it! Umm...Jen? No one thinks your food was good but you! You're lazy, sneaky, back-stabbing,selfish, & a liar!!! Ramsays' best decision was getting rid of your overinflated ego in the kitchen. Ugh, I'd never go anywhere she was coking, even if the meal was free. Seriously. I hear her voice & I want to punch her in the face! I feel bad for whichever chef gets her on their team b/c she's sure to sabatoge them!
I can't pick a winner, I don't want to see either win now.

i was very upset/confused at my dvr, because i thought it had cut off the end of the finale....only to find out that it was part one....you totally weren't the only one...

my wife and i were watching the show and she pointed out that the striped swatches they showed us when it aired were to cover the boothes, and then when the walls were striped as well, they showed a flashback to something we didn't see....the editing on this show has always been something else, but this was one that was amazing to me (i don't doubt that her choosing striped walls happened as well, but if you have it on dvr go back and check it out, you'll see what i mean)

as for the winner, i really think this whole thing will hinge on who gets stuck w/jen, she'll sink the whole ship if it makes her somehow look better (don't really know how that works but....)

gut feeling is christina, she's younger and can be more of what chef wants...someone pretty who will do what he tells her...

Thinking back on part one of the finale - I really dont think either Petrozza OR Christina is ready to run Chef's resaurant. If I HAD to pick one, at this point - I guess it'd have to be Christina. Again - I'll have to see the second part of the finale to really decide on a favorite. Well, not exactly a FAVORITE - just one over the other is the best I think I'll be able to settle on. I think I'm leaning more toward Christina now, though...
