Jon Stewart Rules

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert seemed beyond happy last night, now that the writers' strike is over.  Anyone catch Stewart's interview with Bill Kristol?  That was some of the most bracing debate I've ever seen on a talk show.  Amazing how Stewart manages to make his points and defend his positions while still remaining respectful - and actually allowing his guests to speak.  Thank God the strike is over.  An election year without writers on those shows would've been a drag.

Thank goodness I DVR the Daily Show - daily! Can't wait to check it out tonight, sounds like it was a great episode.

I've always respected that about Stewart. He doesn't get into the battle, he respectfully explains his opposition and allows his guests to do the same.

He also humanizes all of his guests - which must frustrate people who'd prefer to continue to demonize everyone they disagree with.

Yeah, and that frustration is one of the reasons its fun to watch him. It's impressive to see some of these guys' arguments fall apart when Stewart asks him to explain it rationally rather than shout it defensively.

Stewart was even MORE impressive last night, interviewing Mark Siegel, friend and advisor to Benazir Bhutto, about her new book Reconciliation. Amazing. You could've heard a pin drop in the studio.

I just watched that interview. It really was impressive. Very respectful and Siegel was really well spoken, I thought.
