I'm very very disappointed with the choosing of Jon Stewart to host this years Oscars. He is such a COLD HOST. A very cold host. Boring, Frigid, Unappealing, Cold Blooded. His jokes are the worst I've heard. Considering this is the 80th Academy, the Academy guys should have gotten Billy Crystal or Whoopi Goldberg. Watching it right now, I wouldn't be surprised if ratings will dip to record lows. Such a lousy show, the songs are sleep induced stupors. I miss those Oscars in the 90s where big production shows (Think singing That's Entertainment and the Alladin number) and big stars galore (Think Tom Hanks presenting an award to Julia Roberts)or Steven Spielberg having a film in competion , where Susan Sarandon, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton are seated to each other, where Celine Dion performs vis a vis Madonna...... Why My Oscar Why??? Please bring back the old glamour of the Oscars....Hollywood is all about big productions and great acting. It's nowhere to be found on this years Oscars!!!
Movie Fan Queen. Knows her style. She shuttles between her 5th Avenue Apartment and her other homes in London and Monte Carlo. Her beautiful home is never without fresh blossoms. She remains humble in spite of this privileged life she leads, being one of the most generous philanthropists in the country. She is New York Society's authority on courtesy and social etiquette. Joan Collins is a poor second next to her. Her Ritard Goliamco Collection rivals the art collection of great museums of the world.

The day in age of over the top Oscars has come and gone. It's over and thank goodness. Personally I much prefer the scaled back show and thought John Stewart did a brilliant job hosting it. His banter was witty and fast paced. Besides a few missteps like the John Travolta jet joke he was note perfect. He was very gracious to all the winners. Not to mention the classy move of letting the dear girl who one best song to come back and finish her speech. I thought it was a great minimalistic take on the Oscars. In fact the only part that fell flat was the over the top song productions. I say here, here to new and improved Oscar night that got me to bed at a decent hour.

I totalloy disagree rose dahling!!! Hollywood is all about big productions!!! Grandiose at that!!! The 80th Oscars is the anti thesis of what Hollywood should be!!!Disappointing!!!

Hollywood might be but those who watch at home just aren't anymore. Everyone is tired of Hollywood's grandiose ways. All the self indulgence is too much. If you want to cater towards Hollywood then don't televise the event. America is sick to death of Hollywood. That's why it was refreshing to see some outsiders like Tilda and Daniel Day Lewis and win.

heller??? Hollywood is not Sundance. It is not Cannes!!! It's about being the biggest movie factory of the world!!! Grandiose at that!

What is your point? If we're talking about the Oscars it's about what the people at home want to see, right? I mean otherwise why put it on TV. If you want to cater to "Hollywood" don't televise it. Then you can get whomever to host and ratings are no longer an issue. Fact of the matter is people didn't watch the Oscars because they expected over the top self congratulating. Hollywood might be into it but the rest of the world is sick to death of it.
