I have blogged before about how disappointed I am in the semifinal theme nights and the general boredom I feel about this year's American Idol contestants. But 80s night REALLY just was the final straw for me.
I did a recap yesterday about how I was bummed to see that every 80s song that was chosen was an "easy listening" tune that you'd hear in a dentist's office. The ladies were no different! The only stand-outs were Amanda Overmyer and Brooke White.
These two ladies actually sang songs that were awesome from the 80s. Brooke did turn one of my all-time favorites ("Love Is a Battlefield") into a slow ballad, but it was so different that it was interesting enough. Amanda didn't change the Joan Jett classic "Hate Myself For Loving You" at all, which was absolutely perfect for her. Every other girl was too boring.
And what's with Paula talking about mutts and dogs for so long that they ran out of time for comments on Syesha's performance? I think she might go home because of that. My prediction: Syesha and Kady are outta here.
