So, I just finished watching Firefly and really liked it. I know a lot of people that really liked it were livid that it was cancelled so quickly. A bunch of episodes that were shot were never aired and only saw the light in the DVDs. Same thing happened with another show on Fox called Wonderfalls. They shot about 14 episodes and only aired 4: WTF? Both of these awesome, yet-cancelled shows were on around the same time as Arrested Development, which also got cancelled. Again, WTF? I'll refrain from opening up a tirade on the network because the people that cancelled the above shows are no longer there and currently deliver some of my favorites like Bones and House, but JEEZ. It's one thing to cancel a crappy show, but to bench your rookies before they've warmed up is just non-sensical. Thank God for DVDs.

I know what you mean: they'd rather air crap like American Gladiator or Don't Forget the Lyrics, or even American Idol rather than any quality show. These seem to be the shows that are canceled (these and the painfully stupid ones: those shows that you'd rather have your head in a beehive than watch). Too bad about the good canceled shows...they beat out reality TV any day.

How much is the Wonderfalls dvds? I've never watched. And I'm worried for Dollhouse which is going to be on Fox. But hearing there is new blood is good.

I've had this same thought. I'm probably not the guy to do it, but someone should research which network has the worst record for dropping the best shows in the last 10 years, I'm thinking its FOX

They canceled Drive early too.
If a new show gets canceled, no matter the network, I like to say "it got Foxed."

Yeah, FOX has an itchy trigger finger. Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the spectrum, the WB/CW doesn't seem to want to cancel any of their shows. 100 episodes of One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven? really?
The Counteragent 03/19/08
7th Heaven translates to syndication $$. Like how Scrubs is still on even though no one really watches besides me and people around me who have to deal with me possessing the remote.
Also, I know it wasn't the best show ever by any means, but does anyone remember Kitchen Confidential? That show started to get awesome and was suddenly gone. I honestly think that had it debuted this year as opposed to '05, it would have survived a little longer.

Yes, I know what you mean!! Firefly is one of my favorite shows and when it had a run on SciFi I realized they were showing episodes I hadn't seen before so I bought the dvds to see all the unaired episodes. Another Fox show was Space: Above and Beyond was a great show cancel at its zenith and Fox execs didn't realize it until after they destroyed the sets but they still wouldn't bring it back. Oh well I have the DVDs to watch. Now they have reality shows OMG what crap is this? The reason they have these shows is because of production cost and residuals. Real TV shows cost a lot of money to produce and real actors cost money. The other thing real TV shows have high cost for sets and locations. Then there are lots and lots of extras to pay for and feed this cost a lot of money and you know how producers and networks like Fox hate to spend money. Since I am an insider this is what I know about why you have crap on TV oh yeah and because idiot trailor trash watch it also.

Good call, Counteragent. I forgot about Kitchen Confidential.

I really liked that Kitchen Confidential show. There are so many more that fox has cancelled too early. Why spend all the start up money and then air two episodes, it just doesn't make sense.
