Last night began what I am beginning to believe will be a good female year for DWTS. This is based on the sad performance of the men last night. However, as the females don't start 'til tonight they could be even worse. Only time and maybe Len will tell.
The first couple of the night was Kym and Penn. Surprisingly, he was actually better than I thought he would be. They danced a cha-cha which was done with perfect Kym choreography, designed to showcase Penn and try to hide that fact that he doesn't dance great. Kym is amazing at the choreography. They were fun, but I don't see them lasting too long. Poor Kym.
The next couple was Jason and Edyta. Jason is hot and they complement each other very well on the dance floor. They did a fox trot that was very nice. I, however, can't wait to see Jason try his hips in a latin number. That is something to look forward to for next week. They also had a big segment about him not feeling manly when he is dancing. Whatever. All the guys are making fun of you cause they wish they were there with Edyta. We all know that although dancing is awesome you won't be using any of the moves you learn on the football field, so just get on with it Jason.
Next up was Cristian and Cheryl with their cha-cha. First I have to say, they decided to give Cheryl a chance again this year, as she had no chance with Wayne Newton last year. OK, so first bad outfit alert. Don't know what Cheryl was wearing but, ew, and oh no! Not the best outfit I've seen in the past few seasons, but also not the worst. Cristian's dancing is not great but he shows promise (unlike some other contestants), and we all know with Cheryl as his teacher he will be (s)hip shape in no time.
And now we move to Mario II and Karina. Ok, in his segment he seemed a little too eager to meet Karina, I'm just saying. He also says how much his hip-hop dancing will not help him at all. They did a cha-cha that was very good. He is another one with a good chance. Not sure that he will be able to carry over into ballroom though. Guess we will see. Mario also had the best use of advertising seen so far, which was a sparkly phone on his back with the teams number to call. Tacky, tacky....perfect for this show!
The Gute and Anna. Was surprised by this pairing. Would have thought they would have put him with someone else. I don't know why exactly. They did a very nice fox trot. Although, Gute had some footwork problems he sold the whole thing with his happiness and enthusiam which was nice to see. Am sure they will stick around awhile.
And last, but certainly not least, we had Adam and Julianne. This is pure DWTS fun. Every season there is the one guy who has no rhythm at all. This year it is Adam, maybe he can start doing Dance center with Kenny Mayne. Not even Julianne could save Adam from himself. He apparently talked through all the practices and all the great dancing from Julianne could not distract from his total inability to move in any way resembling a dance. If viewers are gracious they will let Adam be the first guy off and put both him and Julianne out of their misery. Although, Julianne said that she would go promote her country album, I don't know if this is better. I listened to the first song on itunes and let me just say that in my opinion the girl should stick to dancing.
And thats it. The judges were typically catty and they managed to give some contructive criticism to everyone but Adam who they knew had no hope. They didn't seem to disagree with each other which may be a first. Then the ladies had their trash talk segment, and that was it!
So it's ladie's night tonight. Let's hope they are more exciting than they guys.
My vote for the guy going home - Adam. I do not dare guess whether he will actually go...there are a few men out there who I am sure will vote for him just to see Julianne one more time!
What does everyone think about the fact that there are no eliminations until next week?
