Songs from the year you were born (WTF?)

Ramiele - what was she thinking? Did she forget Carrie Underwood SLAYED it a few years ago? Not to mention Carly kicked the crap out of it THIS year! Here's the thing about being a singer - you're going to get sick, since your instrument is organic, you're going to have to figure out a way to perform when you ARE sick, meaning, you're going to have to sing songs differently. She actually could CHOOSE her song and chose a big note song that was too big for her when she's healthy. All she has is big notes and quiet softness, but not dimension, no variety to her voice. I don't think she'll go home, since she's got a strong fan base, but if it's based on performance alone it would be bu-bye.

Jason - Well ok... he did what he does. I'm not blown away, I won't talk about it after today, since it's all very unmemorable. He'll stick around - did you hear the girls in the audience????

Sayesha - The song was perfect - I thought she did a great job at it. HOWEVER, she just annoys the living hell out of me. PLEASE stop with that damn baby cry thing - what the hell is up with that? STOP! You're killing us all!!! Since this is a show voted on by the people, it's a good idea for the people to LIKE you, and I just don't think many people like her, regardless of her talent. She should stick around, since the judge's comments were so generous, but can she get some PR training or something?

Chikieze - Go with your heart? Bad advice! Go for what can win! Why would we vote for a bad photocopy of Luther? That was just boring.... I felt really sleepy afterwards. Maybe he can make a bedtime album, or a new age record designed to keep you sleeping? He may go home, even the people who like him probably fell asleep and couldn't vote.

Brooke - I loved the beginning - couldn't agree more with the judges. I think when the band kicked in and she *tried* to kick it up a notch, it just highlighted her vocal (and musical) limitations. She does one thing really well, so she should stick with it. I don't think she'll win, just like all the other one-trick ponies won't win. (please?)

Michael Johns - wow! He should do that more often! I was a bit worried about the medley, but just LOVED it! He was relaxed, and he sang comfortably. I think he needs to really KNOW a song to sell it. Just a guess. Didn't you LOVE the lighting? Very rock-staresque. It was one of those moments that made me remember why I loved him a few weeks ago!

Carly - I admit it, I love her! No, it wasn't her best night by a long shot, but I just can't stop loving her - she's just a good person with a great voice. I hope she doesn't get in the bottom 3 again - that really tore her up last week.

David A - Ugh... first off, what the hell was that song??? Shouldn't you perform a song people actually KNOW?? I remember 1990, there were a bunch of songs he could have sung that would have been MUCH better! I've officially decided that his voice grates on my nerves - it used to be just the Utah cute that irritated me, but now officially it's his voice. It's very one dimensional - it doesn't do anything special, it does it's one thing and moves on. Can't we make an AI frankenstien monster and just take bits and pieces from everyone to make a perfect singer/entertainer??? I don't think I'll be able to sit through another one of his performances. The poor kid, I really feel for him. I'm sure he loves music, it is very important to him, but I just get a strong feeling his parents are pushing him a lot.

Kristy Lee Cook - Uh, what? I'm still a bit dazed about that performance and further confused by the judges. OK, her performance vocally was fine, nothing spectacular, nothing memorable, but she sang the right notes. She looked dead inside to me - like there was no passion, no life in her for this song. Isn't this song all about patriotism? Should you be very passionate about that if you chose the fricking song????? I'm just confused. Bottom 3 for sure.

David Cook - Great job of covering Chris Cornell's arrangement. Please note - COVERING SOMEONE ELSE'S ARRANGEMENT. That shouldn't get lost. It's a brilliant arrangement and if Cook had come up with it, everyone else in the competition should just drop their mics and leave, because he would be a genius. Here's my thing on him - he does a good job, I think he's proven himself enough to be the Daughtry of this season, but his "smart" way of finding unusual arrangements and covering them is going to get old real quick. I would love it if he could come up with his own stuff, like "Hello." You know? He'll stick around - top 3 in my opinion.

Paula - Oh I love her. Was that style Marilyn Monroe meets biker? I'm confused. I get that she was sick, but I think she was legitimately on drugs, not just because she seemed so happy to get some words out, even less coherent than normal, but still they were words. Mind you, most of them were incomplete words, but whatever. Another reason I think she was really on hard core drugs was that Simon was nice to her, didn't mock her at all. If it was just Paula au naturelle, he would have torn her apart, but because she was on a perkaset, darvacet (or something) cocktail he was nice, even a bit protective in a way. I love her.... I wonder if her cold will continue.

So now I'm torn as to whether KLC or Chickieze should go home. It's going to start getting tough, where people who are LOVED are booted off. I think this season more than any others legitimately has a few people I would be happy seeing winning. I like that, it gives me options for happiness and I don't have to scream at my TV and hate the voting public for a week.
