Inspirational songs ... oh this could so be an awesomely bad night.
E: Oh hello Paula's cleavage.
J: It looks like she's trying to give them back.
Michael Johns singing "Dream On."
E: This is the perfect song for him.
J: It sounded amazing, but not all that different from the original.
E: What's up with the ascot again?
Randy says Michael Johns is no Aerosmith.
J: Oh, don't talk back Michael.
E: It never goes well when they talk back.
Paula says perfect song and he sounds as good as he looks and then talks about her chihuahuas. Simon says good performance but a little bit wanna be-ish.
E: I can't even hear what Paula is saying because I'm staring at her cleavage.
J: I sense a wardrobe malfunction coming.
Syesha singing "I Believe" by Fantasia.
E: You never sing a former Idol's song. What is she thinking?
J: Clearly she's thinking, lets find a way to have KLC keep coming back week after week.
E: Here's the thing. She looks great, she sounds great - well until that high-pitched whistle - but Fantasia she is not.
Randy says "no special connection," Paula says she liked it.
And Syesha talks back as well.
E: Why are they being so fresh tonight? Stop it.
Simon says it lacked the emotion and wants to find out who Syesha is, but she sang it beautifully.
Jason Castro singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."
J: He's playing the ukulele, I want to hula and fall in love.
Randy says "Jason Castro is back in the hunt," Paula says something, and Simon says FANTASTIC.
E: That was such a brilliant song choice, I loved it.
Kristy Lee's up next. Ten to One odds she does Amazing Grace.
J: So far this night seems pretty awesome, hope the cockroach doesn't dampen the mood.
E. has a good question. What would Amanda be singing this week if she was still around?
Kristy Lee singing "Anyway" by Martina McBride.
E: She does sound good, but not after what Jason Castro just did.
J: I'm actually impressed, as Paula would say, "It's good for Kristy Lee."
Randy says it was good for her, Paula says her best so far, Simon says he thought she was very good and looks like a star tonight.
J: She did better than Syesha.
E: I agree she did good, but with this small of numbers they should all be doing good. I think she still may be in the bottom three.
J. I'm terrified. E. just had a complete freak out about the So You Think You Can Dance commercial. I don't know what to do. American Idol come back.
J: Why is a boy sitting in Simon's lap?
Simon calls him "the Dark Lord" of American Idol.
David Cook is singing "Innocent" by Our Lady Peace.
J: David took a gamble and I'm not sure it's paying off. That low register sounds strange.
E: I don't like his jacket either. This is not your week, my friend.
Randy says this wasn't his strongest week, Paula thinks he's well-defined at being the "whole package." Simon didn't like the performance very much before, a bit pompous.
E: He knows that wasn't his best performance, you can tell it in his demeanor.
Carly Smithson singing Queen's "The Show Must Go On."
E: As long as she doesn't talk about being a broken sparrow again, we're fine.
J: It looks like she's wearing a bathing suit with pants on top.
E: SMILE! Why won't she smile?
J: I don't feel inspired, I feel like if the show doesn't go on the world is going to end and not in a good way.
Randy says ended up just okay, Paula voice great as always, but didn't feel engaged, Simon says unusual song choice and she over sang it and lost control of the song like an angry performance.
J: I agree that it was kind of angry.
Carly blames Simon's face for throwing her off.
E: She needs to step up the performances or Kristy Lee is going to outlast her and that just shouldn't happen.
David Archuleta is back again wearing neutral colors. Singing "Angels."
E: He doesn't sound quite right.
J: That was not a great vocal.
E: It got real weird in spots.
Randy says "crazy hot."
E: How does he not get a negative comment this week? Are they not hearing what we hear?
Paula says fantastic. Simon said best song choice but not his best vocal.
J: WHAT?
E: Just like Carly can't get anything positive, "little" David can't buy a negative comment. I am angry at the judge's right now.
J: I don't get it. The performance was nothing special, but they made it seem like he just brought down the house.
Brooke White singing "You've Got a Friend."
J: I'm not in love. Her voice sounds kind of weak.
Randy liked it, Paula says she is definitive, Simon says it was nice and pleasant, not original.
J: I'm thinking that the Kristy Lee was actually better than Brooke this week, what is happening with Idol.
So we are thinking the two Davids were a bit weak tonight, they probably won't go home, but they may be in the bottom three.
J: I think Syesha is the best bet to go home this week.
E: Should be the bottom three and will be the bottom three are going to be incredibly different. I think Carly needs to be nervous.
Inspiration week is over, and I'm not all that inspired.
E: I feel inspired to kick judges' butt because they won't be mean to David Archuleta. And actually I don't hate Kristy Lee Cook anymore.
J: I know. How did that happen?
We may or may not be back for tomorrow. Committing to two and a half hours of Idol Gives Back is a huge undertaking. But as always, Thanks for Reading!
