This was a pretty bad night for American Idol. People are going to complain that they were uninspired and the music didn't connect to the audience, blah, blah, blah. But I say Hell Yeah! Jason aka Dreads is back, thank God! I'll happily take a lackluster night if the one shining moment comes from Dreads. I like him for many reasons (he always looks a little confused, his choice of song is great, the dreads are pretty awesome for American Idol, etc.). But the thing I like most about him is his attitude. He's not taking this seriously at all (which is why I loved Amanda). The dude is not going to cry if he gets the boot. He goes on stage every night to have fun playing a style of music he likes. I don't think he could care less if he won this thing. It's really refreshing compared to Syesha, Carly and Brooke who look like they are about to die if they're not crowned as the Idol. Get it over it ladies...you're not going to win, that belongs to a David. My advice: just enjoy this moment.
So you have to know it's a pretty bad night if Kristy Lee Cook is one of the best performers of the night. Seriously? This chick should have been sent home weeks ago but proved she's not a dumb blond and has chosen songs that keep putting her forward (even if they're not sung well).
Little David picked one of my favorite songs. I've loved the Robbie Williams version since I first heard it years ago. Therefore when it was announced he was going to sing it I got a little excited (which never happens when he sings). Well, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. He butchered it. I think I need someone to explain to me why people love him so much because I'm not seeing it. The beginning of the song was horrible...I mean awful.
Carly, David C. and Michael just didn't do it. Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to choose their own songs. Maybe they need people behind them telling them what do. Then they would be good American Idol robots.
Brooke seemed to overcompensate for last week. The chick look like she was going to die if we didn't know she was our friend. She has got to get her emotions in line. I am not looking forward to seeing her on Wednesday's show. We should all invest in Kleenex stock now.
Fantasia also had a so, so performance tonight. Her version didn't really meet up to the original. Oh wait, Fantasia didn't sing it tonight? Really? Because I swear I heard her name mentioned more than Syesha's. That can never bode well for any performer. Syesha has to have finally realized (hopefully) that she can't pick big songs that can't be covered well. If not, she's going to be the next to go.
