"The Power of the Music of the Night" indeed!

AAAAAAAAAAH!!! The band started with Music of the Night!!! WHY did Ryan have to stop?! I am such an Opera fan it's not funny. And there! THERE!!!!! Phantom of the Opera in the opening intro of ALW! :swoon: Simon must be thrilled. I'm thrilled. But I must be calm. Must. Remain. Calm.

Syesha= Oh, is that an engagement ring? Quick, someone find news! And did anyone catch what this song is from? I'm a bit distracted because it sounded like she started off-beat. Even more distracting is how she's dancing with some old guy, whom I later realize to be Ricky Minor. This is why we stick him up in the rafters. Well, as for her actual performance, it's off-kay in parts, but it's fun, energetic lively... I liked it. I actually voted, which I promised myself I'd NEVER do. I will actually be disappointed if she leaves tomorrow.

Jason= He's just so cute! And he definitely gave the most laughs of the night. First, he chose a Cats song, which everyone seemed to say not to do. And then the whole interview with ALW, talking about how hearing a man in dreadlocks sing the song gave him "a bit of a jolt" and Jason admitting he didn't know a cat sang the song... ^_^ That's the Jason we love. I honestly was shocked the judges hated it as much as they did. I thought his voice-- and I never say this about anyone-- was perfect. I was in awe of this gorgeous, simple voice coming out of this boy. The song, admittedly, was a mistake, but HIS VOICE! Randy is just balmy in my opinion. Maybe it's because I never heard the original, but I loved the way he did it.

Brooke= Ohhhhhh no. She started over. It was brave the first time. This time it's just sickening. I want her to do well, but if you make it as far as the Top Six you cannot forget the lyrics. And then she kept scrunching her face like she had dry contacts and fluttering her hand up and down and hunching her shoulders. Gah. I hated it. I absolutely hated it. I... She can go. What am I saying? She will go after that. The theater was shockingly quiet after the judges' critiques, as was Brooke, happily. Looks like she took all the internet complaints to heart about her babbling. And Simon did give her a bit of a perk by saying he would have done the same thing by starting over.

David A= THINK OF ME!!!!!!! Hallelujah! :swoon: Oh, I love this song. It's so pretty and delicate and sad. I'm aching to sing along, especially now that I actually can (since it's not in a sky high octave). His version is... different. Pretty, but different. I guess what I really wanted was to hear familiar voices sing a familiar song the way it was originally sung. But I like it well enough. I'm not wowed. But I do feel an overwhelming urge to shut off the TV for a few moments and listen to the original.

Carly= ALL I ASK OF YOU!!!!! ... Oh. Never mind. She's changing it. False alarm. Never mind as I go off and, um, sniffle a bit. Well, what can I say? Her spunk is back. She did well, even if she was horribly screechy. The song threw me off. I've never seen the play, don't know what it's about, but it was jarring hearing "Jesus Christ" flung out like that. It sounded unnervingly like a curse instead of a name. I won't be voting, but I liked the t-shirt.

David C= MUSIC OF THE NIGHT!!!!! I TOLD you this would be a good idea! :swoon: I'm about to pop out of my skin I'm so excited.

... I... I'm speechless. He failed. I never thought it would happen, but he couldn't do it. He isn't feeling the song. You can tell it by his face, by the way he moves. This is a song of passion and seduction and
the bewitchment one person can have over another. This isn't a song for glancing at the audience and strolling about the stage. Stand still! Stare us in the eyes and sing to one person. Give it your all, dig deep! I can't believe "bad boy" David Cook failed this utterly bad boy song. He dropped his throaty snarl and went for Aladdin-style prep. He's rushing the song. It's not sensual enough, not mysterious and longing enough. He's singing to ALW, not the ravishing beautiful and innocent Christine Daae. And that last note! What a travesty. To belt like a common rocker one of the most heartfelt songs... I don't have the words for it. Gerard Butler practically whispered the entire song, but David Cook belts. I'm disappointed in you, David Cook, as a a Phantom fan. But I must give you your due in the one area you got it right. The middle-song belt on "where you long to BE"? That was perfect. That was Gerard Butler to the max, complete with echo. You see? Follow the original feeling and you cannot go wrong.

My prediction: Brooke, David A, and... either Carly or Jason in the bottom three with Carly going home.

Carly going home? Are you smoking what Jason's been smoking? lol Jason and Brooke in the bottom and then toss a coin...they were both terrible. And I'm a Brooke fan.

JASON CASTRO GAVE THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT AND WHAT A VOICE. RANDY AND SIMON WERE THE ONES SMOKIN TO NOT HAVE LIKED HIS PERFORMANCE. I THINK BROOKE GAVE THE WORST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT. I THINK THE BOTTOM THREE SHOULD BE SYESHA,BROOKE AND DAVID A. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE BORING DAVID A. GO HOME BUT I THINK BROOKE WILL GO.

Brooke to go home.
And I'm a Phantom fan, too, and I think you're wrong about DC. I loved it. But then again, I was drooling and giggling like a twelve year old girl.

Overall, this was a much better week than last week. Then again, I have karaoke nights better than last week.
