Only two episodes left until the final 3 are decided for the million dollars. If Amanda can hold on for the next two elimination challenges, she has this one in the bag. Did anybody notice how pleased all four jurors were when she played the idol and stayed? They seemed genuinely happy for her!! The most interesting aspect of this episode for me, however, was parvati's behavior. I think her public refusal to vote for amanda was somewhat genius--at final three, she has the ability to claim that she did stay true to an original alliance, and hopefully downplay the fact that she voted off ozzy. And James's exit via medical problem, as opposed to a vote from parvati, is equally advantageous--i think james is stupid enough to vote for parvati to win based on the fact that she technically never voted him off, forgetting that she gave him basically no chance to win the game. An interesting dilemma for parvati and amanda will be the selection of the third person for the finals. Each remaining contestant has his/her merits: Erik has not been a central player in any alliance the entire game. He has shown very little strategic maneuvering other than the Ami ouster. However, he could play up his recent challenge prowess, and could snag a couple of boy votes in solidarity against the "girl power," and could still have "fan" support in natalie and alexis. Personally, I would be inclined to vote him off at the first available opportunity, because neither amanda nor parvati promised him anything, and thus he would not be an angry juror. Natalie would prove an interesting choice to take--she seems to be friends with only alexis, and would have that vote in the bag. But Jason, and any of the favorites, would probably be highly unlikely to vote for her, and she has an incredibly abrasive personality that would not come across well at final TC. The downside is that in order to take Natalie, Amanda and Parvati would have to vote out Cirie, who would undoubtedly be pissed enough at the two of them to cast a vote for Natalie. And lastly, Cirie. She hasn't won a single challenge, but she has been a principle player in every elimination except for the latest one. She can rightfully claim a well-played strategic game. However, I feel as though a lot of her strategy has hinged on her relationship with amanda, and now with parvati. And this strategy has contributed to the demise of a number of jurors, which could alienate them.
If I were Amanda and Parvati, I would probably bring Natalie along--the other two have too much potential to swing votes, and taking them would probably be a bigger risk.
On a side note: did anybody notice how, when given the option to leave, james did not even begin to fight as hard to stay as penner did? When the doctor suggested that he leave, James practically beelined for the boat. But at tribal council, both he and Jeff implied that James fought valiently to remain in the game. I actively resent the "Myth of James's Awesomeness" because of **** like this. He is not good at challenges, he has played a poor social and strategic game, and his most memorable moment of the season is eating a bat. Plus he's acted like an **** most of both of the seasons.
