Here is a rundown of all the fallacies in tonight's episode, based on personal experience in a hospital:
1. Dr. Addison Shepard (does she have a maiden name? because now would be a good time to make the switch) is trained as an OB/gyn. While this gives her license to perform a c/section and deliver the baby, she has no training whatsoever to whisk away and join the surgery on the infant. Pediatric surgeons, not cardiothoracic surgeons like Dr. Hahn, who undergo general surgery residencies and pediatric surgery fellowships to the tune of 11 years after medical school, would most likely be involved in the case. They have done this numerous times with her on the show and it pisses me off to no end because it is so inaccurate. Additionally, it appears that Addison's involvement in the case was solely to perform a c/section. I find it surprising that the entire city of seattle did not have qualified personnel for this procedure.
2. The presumption that, after putting the baby's heart back in its chest and putting a little covering over the wound, the baby was doing "just fine," is highly unlikely. Babies like this have many dangerous complications, and would be monitored in an intensive care unit for months. Additional surgeries to close the defect would be necessary.
3. Surgical interns do not use dumb phrases like "she totally coded," and then giggle madly. This is because surgical interns are usually beyond the age and maturity level of a 13 year old.
4. If you came to the hospital smelling like scotch, you would probably be fired. And if you were an intern complaining like that to an upper level, you would not have a job for long.
5. The statistics of HIV transmission during pregnancy were correct. However, Izzie handled the situation like an absolute moron. Obviously, the patient did not have that bit of information, and that is why she was so upset about the pregnancy and subsequent termination. Any doctor would not sit there, **** around with the information she was trying to deliver, and then run out of the room when the patient was upset without telling her this crucial info.
6. Alex would probably be fired for both sleeping with a patient (and lose his license to practice), and fired again for letting said girlfriend loiter around the private areas of the hospital while he is working.
7. A clinical trial like the one derrick and meredith are planning has to be reviewed by a number of commitees, including the Institutional Review Board of the hospital, before you can move forth with a trial such as this one. You cannot find random information on the internet, especially when the only testing has been done in animals, and apply it to a patient immediately. In this case, the FDA would likely have to be involved.
In summary, most of the things the show depicts these people doing would either have them fired, arrested, or lose their licenses.
But hey, the drama is good. How awesome was it that Callie took McSteamy home for a romp in the sack to dispell notions that she ****? And I'm seeing the plot for dull rose's demise. Thank goodness. Stay tuned next week for more insights into the "medical" world of seattle grace!

Addison was getting called Dr. Montgomery(?) thoughout the episode. Also many of times Addison has said she is a neo-natal surgeon. On Private Practice she mentioned how she is one of the top neo-natal surgeons and the Chief has said it before also. Before she left she was doing lots of surgeries on newborns.
I agree with #4. This is the second time an intern came in drunk. Meredith came in drunk during the first season and they gave her IV fluids.
I also agree with you on #5 but mostly because Izzie invited her interns to come in there and then delivered this information to the woman. The whole thing was so unprofessional. They NEVER have Izzie acting like a real professional doctor.
#6. Alex should have gotten fired for her being in the observation room earlier this year. I just can't believe that trick is lying about being pregnant. I really hope Izzie uses that big mouth of hers to tell Alex.
#7. I didn't understand who they got a clinical trial so fast either. The whole thing seemed thrown together just to give Meredith and Derek some time together.
I LOVED Callie dancing with Sloan. Too bad Sloan didn't have any beat but Callie was using those curves and was great. Too bad Hahn is in love with her which Callie which seemed to come out of the blue. I clearly recall Callie fawning over Sloan and calling him and Derek pretty boys. I also thought the idea of her getting that hair out of Callie's mouth symbolized Callie having pubic hair in her mouth that's why she hurried and started dancing with Sloan.
Sick of Izzie. She use to be my favorite character. Now she just annoys me. Without Burke, Yang just seems lost. She is acting like a little child who wants the teacher to pick them to be captain of the kickball team. Burke made her grow up. She was all about surgeries but Burke bought warmth to her, he made her seem human.
I am sick of people telling all their business. Like last week Rose just started blurting out to that annoying little intern (Meredith sister) about how much she likes Derek and on this episode Addison blurting out about single life. I wish they would stop having the characters do that.
The one thing that also upset me was the amazing chemistry Addison still had with Sloan and Alex. I will never forgive Sandra for not giving me my Sloan/Addison/Alex love triangle. She could have kept Addison on for one more season to do the love triangle then had Addison leave because she couldn't chose between them and she wanted to be by herself to find herself.
