Who do you think is the next to die on LOST? I say either Sawyer or Claire.
I haven't seen any proof that Sawyer is alive in our flashforward sequences. I think he'll end up fighting to save someone else & die in their place. Since coming to the island, he's turned into a real hero. Far from the vengeful man he used to be! When he thought Claire was in danger, he rushed right to get her out of the house where she was buried under the rubble. He didn't even think about it, it was just a reaction for him. He's thinking of the safety of others before himself. That's a huge turnaround. I think it'll sign his death warrant too.
Claire, we know doesn't make it off the island. There's no way she'd let Aaron go w/out her, he's her life. She'd give up her own for her son. The shots she'd been taking I think may have something to do w/ it, even though that hasn't been mentioned in a long time. I think her days are numbered.
Who do you think it'll be?

I don't think they will get rid of Sawyer unless he has other plans. He is way too hot, and the women and men love him. And his character evolving on the show has been great. Besides, let's remember, the Oceanic 6 will end up going back to rescue who was left. For all we know Clare may not actually be dead, I think she blew up in the house, that is why she was gone when she saw her father. And that is why Kate doesn't want to go back to rescue them. She doesn't want to give up the baby.
But on lost , it's all a time warp, so you can be dead one season and alive the next.
This show is so huge, unless cast members have other commitments, I think we are going to keep seeing the lesser of the cast dying off, like Ben's daughter, her mother, her boyfriend.
Everyweek they say someone will die, and it usually ends up being someone that has an impact, but you don't really care about. I mean Clare was sweet, but not a very signifigant part of the show.

Hmm...good point about Sawyer! I guess if someone were to stay behind & protect everyone who's left it'd be Sawyer. Can't trust Locke w/ everyone, right? He seems so crazy sometimes, even though to us it makes sense.
The thing I'm wondering about is they're running out of nonessential characters to kill off. Pretty much the others & the 3 from the freighter. I just don't think everyone's going to survive, that's all.
As for Claire, I guess we'll see.

I don't think Claire will die until after Jack finds out she is his half-sister. After that, she's totally free to go. This should happen sometime next season.
I don't think Sawyer dies because he's simply too popular. It would be a huge risk (fan backlash wise) to kill him off. But then, Lost is all about huge risks...
Who's next to die? I say one of the frieghter folk. Charlotte or the pilot both seem expendable to me.
Another obvious guess is Jin. They've already showed that he does. I don't think his death was faked because Sun was crying way too hard. Besides, that would also be a cheap cop-out. This can't be the sort of show that jerks us around when it comes to who's alive and who's dead. We get enough of that from Mikhail

Interesting point. Thought of this too-what if Claire does die and only then Jack finds out she's his half sister? Would be a good reason why Jack wouldn't want to be around Aaron at first when Kate's on trial. Another reason why Hurley's message was "You shouldn't be raising him.". Maybe Jack doesn't save her, and someone had to take the baby. Could be message from beyond from Claire, not his father as we think! Just a thought!
As for Jin, that's a mystery. Can't really see why they'd fake his death. Then again, maybe it has something to do w/ Hurley going nuts! Who knows! Lol.

As far as we, the audience, know (at this point anyway) Sawyer IS ALIVE on the island in the future. Remember the flash forward when Kate revealed her on-going promise to Sawyer? Jack told her: "He made his choice! He chose to stay!", not he chose to die or he's dead. So, we can assume that when Jack and Kate left the island, Sawyer was still alive at the time of their departure. He may die at some point after that, but as far as the Oceanic 6 know, he is STILL alive on the island! Plus, even though Sawyer has come full circle (killing the REAL sawyer, saving Claire, etc.) in his storyline and achieved a certain amount of redemption (a sure signal of death in other characters - Ana Lucia, Mr. Eko, Charlie, Shannon, etc.), he is an EXTREMELY popular character and the producers would be stupid to kill him off. Not only that, but the fact that he is still alive on the island in the future opens the door to keep the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle going in some way, shape or form even after Jack and Kate leave the island. It's incredibly ironic that even after they leave the island, Jack is STILL competing with Sawyer for Kate's affections. Also, Kristen (from Watch With Kristen/E!Online) HAS CONFIRMED (via executive producers Cuse and Lindelof) that BOTH Sawyer and Locke not only stay behind, but are in fact STILL ALIVE on the island in the future. So there! LOL!

As far as Claire goes, I think that early on in the series the producers started to realize that (for the most part anyway) she was starting to become a worthless character who offered nothing to the story (like Shannon, Boone, Ana-Lucia, Nikki and Paulo), but instead of killing her off, they had Ethan Rom abduct her and then they gave her amnesia to prolong the mystery and the impact of FINALLY learning what happened to her when she was gone and how Alex and Rosseau rescued her from Ethan and the rest of The Others. The Claire abduction storyline is definitely integral to the mythology of the show, as is her son Aaron (who producers say is IMPORTANT to the island) and her connection to Jack with both of them sharing the same father: Christian Shepard. I think the producers just like Emilie DeRavin as an actress or her character, because even though she has definitely worn out her welcome several times through out the series, they keep finding ways to make her character IMPORTANT to the story, for example: all the reasons I listed above. The development of this latest storyline - Claire running off with Christian Shepard/Jacob and leaving Aaron behind - is further proof that she will be safe for some time on the series. The producers have also said that this new Claire storyline will make her character more important to the story for the next several YEARS! So, I think it's a safe bet to assume she is safe, and that like Locke and Sawyer, is still alive on the island in the future. Also, if Aaron is her life and she would give up hers for his before she would let him leave the island without her, as you said above, why woud she just abandon him and leave him all alone in the jungle for Sawyer to find? If she was as good of a mother as you say, she wouldn't do something like that. I mean through out the show Claire has struggled with her on-going dislike of motherhood and the responsibilities that come with it. She was even going to give Aaron to a family in L.A. before 815 crashed. Look at Rousseau, who never stopped loving Alex and who ACTUALLY did give her life for her daughter's! Now, that's a good mother! Not Claire. I mean even Charlie cared more about Aaron than she did. But alas, for SOME reason, the producers will always look for a reason to keep her character alive and she will NOT die! At least not before Jack learns the truth about his connection to her.

If anyone else dies, I think it will likely be Juliet, Michael or one (and maybe more) of the frieghter people - Charlotte, Daniel Faraday, Miles, Frank Lapidus, Captain Gault, Martin Keamy and Omar. Those last two freighter folks on the list - Keamy and Omar - certainly DESERVE to die after shooting Alex, Rousseau and Karl. Not to mention taking shots (thankfully unsuccessful) at Sawyer. I myself was surprised that old smokey didn't do them in when Ben summoned it to kill them. I hope if anyone dies, that it's Keamy and Omar! They suck! Captain Gault is also a baddie who needs to go! And, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind if Charlotte died either. Her character is boring and gets on my freaking nerves! I thought Miles was shady at first, but I have grown to like his character and he has more than proven himself to be a "GOOD" person recently. For that alone, he will continue to survive the island. I like Daniel Faraday and Frank Lapidus too, and I also think that they are "GOOD" people as well...so I hope they don't die, but who knows? If the producers are smart (and they certainly are) they will keep Daniel, Miles and Frank around for a while. If Juliet dies, it will be for Jack or at the hands of Ben. She may sacrifice herself in order for Jack to be able to leave the island, because even though she knows he loves Kate, she still loves him - she saved his life for god's sake! Also, we know that Ben is obsessed with her and will NOT let Jack (or anyone else, i.e. Goodwin) have her and that obsession may lead to her death. We know Ben is not above murder. He killed his own father along with over 40 other members of The Dharma Initiative, so we know he is capable. I also think Michael may bite the bullet soon. He may very well sacrifice himself in order to rescue the Oceanic 6 and may need to do this in order to gain redemption. Plus, we already know he WANTS to die (due to his guilt over Ana-Lucia and Libby), but can't because the island won't let him until he finishes his mission. Maybe soon he will get his wish. Plus, the man keeps physically and emotionally losing his son Walt (His ex-wife to him to Austraiia with her before the crash, the others took him away on the island, and off the island Michael's own mother has now taken Walt and won't let Michael see him), so we know he has NOTHING left to live for other than Walt. His continued absence from Walt may just send Michael over the edge yet again. Yep, I think Michael's days are numbered for sure, as his storyline is closely tied to Walt's and Walt's appearances on the show in the future are becoming less and less likely due to his growth. Plus, Michael's whole reason for being on the freighter IS to DIE! Also, Jack grieves for
"someone" at the Hoffs/Drawler funeral parlor. Someone who had a teeanage son and who was from New York (according to the obituary) and someone who was so disliked that no one attended his funeral. The betraying Michael certainly fits that description, don't you think? So, I think these people are all STRONG contenders to be the next to die on the show. Also, Ben has vowed to kill Penelope Widmore, so she is definitely in danger and belongs on the list of contenders as well. I personally don't think Jin is dead, I think his death was faked and that he is still alive on the island in the future along with Locke, Sawyer, and Claire. Something about his death is odd, given the fact that the date he "suppossedly" died is the same date as the crash: September 22nd, 2004. Plus think of what an amazing final sequence that would be, to see Sun and Yi Jeon come back to the island and to be welcomed back by daddy Jin! That's probably what will happen at some point in the series finale. But who knows, this IS LOST after all and anyone could die at anytime, heck Jack could even die on his way back to the island, right?

So what's going on w/ Claire? Is she on the dark side now? She was sitting in the cabin w/ Christian. Who the hell's Christain??? Seemed like she was in a trance, or drugged. She just left Aaron & (for no reason?) is suddenly alive & in the cabin. What's that all about?
Alright, I concede that Sawyer WILL NOT die. My only point is just b/c he stayed behind on the island, doesn't mean he's still alive there. There's lots of things that could happen while he's trying to protect other people. Polar bears, smoke monsters... Just b/c Kate makes him a promise doesn't mean he'll be there to thank her.
As for all the things that are suppose to happen & people who are supposed to stay alive, well, I don't trust anyone's word. Something tells me the writers won't let anything leak out that's 100% positive. Maybe change things if too many people know! Keep us all guessing & on our toes!
Waiting for the whole cabin/Jacob plan to be exposed. Haven't formed a definate opinion of what's going on or why yet. Reserve the right to hold back for now.

i think we're also seeing some sort of issue where certain people have been affected by the island in some way, making it impossible for them to die.
Christian Shepard appears to fit this bill, as does the eyeliner guy (nestor carbonells character, who's name is totally escaping me at the moment), widmore probably falls into that, and perhaps ben and locke as well, not to mention michael (remember that car accident?).
If there is some sort of genetic characteristic to this, it would be a strong case for why claire may still be alive, though obviously we don't really know what happened in the explosion). That would also make it possible that Jack can't die either.
Hard to know the whole plan, but that is something that we've all been kicking around at our weekly lost conspiracy theory meetings.
loglady 05/11/08
jeez, totally forgot to say that i really think that jin will probably be the one who dies, if it's not one of the freighter people who i really don't care if they die (esp. Charlotte, i really ****).
loglady 05/11/08
****...i can't say ****?
