I Love Rock N Roll, but not Idol

The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame should shake their head and say "It wasn't us".  The contestants on Idol this week, had plenty to choose from, and  I was hopeful that there would be some good performances; at the very least from the "rocker" of the bunch.  Boy was I wrong!

I got the song list from a spoiler site about 30 minutes prior to show time.  So, I had some time to ponder why David Cook would sing "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran. For that  matter who let Duran Duran into the Hall of Fame?  His performance was flat, not as in pitch, but in enthusiasm.  I really don't think he picked that song, some producer picked that for him.  For his second song he sang "Baba O'Reilly" by The Who.  Props to David for picking one "rock" song.  Thank you, David. His second song was better, maybe because he picked it.

Syesha sang "Proud Mary" and "Change It Gonna Come" she sang fine.  But, she is boring.  She has now decided to join the competition.  But, it's to late.  Her tears at the end were sweet, but Brooke ruined crying for the competition.

Now, for Jason...well, my high hope for Jason at the beginning of the season have dwindled.  His versions of "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Mr. Tamborine Man" were pretty much a disaster. Like a F5 tornado screaming through a trailer park.  The first song he messed up the arrangement; his second song, he messed up the lyrics.  Game over, man, game over.  Sorry.

David Archuletta is the golden boy for everyone.  The judges like him.  Randy fawned over him.  Paula just wants to scoop him up and eat him with ice cream.  Simon is drinking the Kool-aid.  I, however, shun the Kool-aid, and think he is continually a bore.  I would not buy his album, nor have I downloaded any of his songs this season.

This was an abomination of a show, that really couldn't end fast enough for me.  Who should go home?  Jason Castro.  Who will go home?  Who cares?  I see an all David final.

The End.
