Locke gets "Cabin Fever"

WOW, I got to hand it to the producers and writers of Lost with the episode of "Cabin Fever." For anyone who enjoys the Island and character mythology, well this episode was definitley one to drool over. And of course no one can drive an episode of theories and mythology more than John Locke. In his flashback we time warp all the way to his conception as a child where we learn that he is born very pre-maturely and is lucky to have survived. The nurse referred to him as the miracle baby. The miracle baby? Well we know now that Mr. Locke has a full sleeve of miracles that are inhumanly possible. 1. As a baby he survived countless diseases and fevers only to survive and never be touched by his real mother.2. His "loving" father gave him the old fatherly shove out a building eight strories only to survive and tell the story. I wish my dad was that nice to me...haha. 3.  With a 98% chance that he will never walk again, he defies all odds by coming to this island as a criple and then here he is walking like someone who has never been in a wheel chair before. A true miracle.4. And lastly, so far as we know is during the ol trip to see Jacop, as Locke somehow is able to hear the mysterious one and this pisses off evil island lover Ben into shooting the criple..pointblank. He took the bullets right in the chest, with Ben never looking back. Is he dead yet? No he has some work to do like Walt points out. The dead man survives again only to this time murdur Naomi with the throw of a knife.

So after all this what does it tell us? Well i was walking my dog and i went back to the Matrix of all places. In the Matrix Neo was told he was the one which meant that it was his destiny to defeat the machines and save Zion the last human city. At first he didn't believe which hindered his powers. He wasn't able to compete with Mr. Smith. But that all changed after he took many "bullets in the chest" and with some help of lover Trinity he became the all powerful One that Morphius was hoping for. I think for Locke he is starting to believe that the reason he was brought to the island was not just his destiny to be there but to save the island itself. As Mr. Shepard told him to. After all these things he's been through he has to believe now that because the island has saved him time and time again it's his duty now to pay it forward and save the island from what is looming on that chopper.

-Other Stuff        So Locke's trip to the cabin kind of confirmed some things and made me think about a few other things. Upon entering the cabin the first person we saw was ooooo Christian Shepard (Jack's dad) who introduced himself as Christian. Locke now becomes the fifth castaway that has met Christian and the fifth person to know him without knowing that one of  the other's know the same person. Imagine the kind of conversation Locke could have with Jack now. "So Jack i was at this cabin on the island the other day, i wanted to talk to this ghost Jacop, now don't call me crazy yet, but guess who was there? Your dad Jack! How crazy is that!" Jack responds "Locke! Don't joke around like that, im gona kill you! I have seen him too on the island but that's just because i dont take care of myself. Im the doctor here too Locke, youre not crazy, youre insane! Next you are going to tell me that this cabin is only seen by certain people or something so then i wouldn't go looking for it." ......Anyway Christian now has confirmed to me that he isn't just this vision of delusion that Jack and Clair can see, but some ghost or entity that can take a shape that seems almost human like. The next thing that really spooked me was the appearence of the evil smirking Clair. Sitting there in the haunted shack like her dad has never done anything to Clair to make her mad. Oh wait! Didn't he abandon Clair at birth and never saw her again until her mom died. Ya that one little thing i guess. With the appearence of Clair in the cabin that has also confirmed to me that Clair is also dead, but she might be able to take that ghostly form like Christian and be able to walk around the island without anyone elso noticing (except for Myles of course who can see the dead "Is this 911? i would like ghostbusters to come to number 1 Mysterious Island Lane immediately! There are some ghosts around here i think..hurry!")

And then there was one more thing when Locke saw Clair he asked "where's aaron" and Christian responded by saying something like "he's not supposed to be here." Hmmm well that got me thinking is aaron not just allowed because the spooky shack might scare him or becasue the cabin only acknowledges the dead. Christian is definitely dead or at least that's what we are led to believe and i now believe that Clair is also dead, so now the big question. Is Locke also dead? He has had enough experiences in his past to make us think that he should be dead. So is Clair, Christian, and Locke some sort of ghosts that are patrolling this island like they are real? OR is it because of my other theory that because of this "miracle man" Locke may be, that he has the power to talk to the dead and see things that the others can't.

So i will leave with that thought. DJ kallen wanted to come out with a good post, so hit me with any questions or theories of your own pleassee! Lost is truly a work of brilliance and after episodes like this one i just cant wait to see how the writers and producers bring it all together in the end. Well, my time is up... DJ will be back next week and i wish all the mothers out there a Happy Mothers Day..DJkallen out!

Damn, this was a pretty good episode, and like always it leaves me eagerly waiting for next thursday...This is a very insightful post and its nice to hear DJKALLEN is back again after his last two "weaker" blogs. ANYWAYS I have also thought about many of the same conspiracies as DJ but I have to disagree with even the thought that locke is dead. Soo..i guess it could be true, but here is why its not, Locke has been to active, the actions he makes are to concrete, and yes I agree he does "owe" the island, this is why it has kept him ALIVE, the island and the ghost, spirits, whatever is conveying what needs to be done to locke, something that the spirits cannot do, it most be done by a live, concrete being...aka locke ( what do other ppl think?), besides this I think this is a very good blog, it has made me thought about a few more things i didnt before. I really like the matrix comparison btw! So Welcome back KALLEN, I really enjoyed reading this one and am looking forward to next week....pc

This episode confused me more. I like your insights as to what in the world is going on in the cabin. The Matrix comment reminded me again about the statue base that looked like an ancient foot on the island. At the time I saw the remains of the statue, I thought about the colossus of Rhodes. So along your thoughts of the Matrix I am beginning to wonder about the similar but older tale of the Odyssey. Remember much of Homer's poem is told in flashbacks. Locke has mortal weakness and has been frustrated trying to control this weakness. When Locke is able to continue the tasks that are his destiny, he becomes stronger like Odysseus, but sometimes Locke has doubts and he again loses the ability to walk, much like in a moment of weakness, Odysseus lost his ship and crew. Gods controlled the mortals in he Odyssey. The statue could be the Greek god Helios, the island Thrimacia. Now the question would be just whom are the Gods controlling Locke?

I agree, I like your insight into what is going on in the cabin. Claire's smile was so scary and the best acting she's had in a long time!
