Yes, David A. is absolutely astounding. I say give the kid a contract right now and let the others duke out the competition. I think- I may be wrong, but I think what some of us are having trouble with is that the kid is just that- he is a kid. He is mature vocally, and he seems to have a graciousness about him that borders on the "aw shucks golly gee" level. We liked Cook because he has a "sex" appeal- and audience presence, he played with the camera and the crowd. I think Simon was was off base when saying he had no charisma. As adults, we relate to him as a performer better because of his maturity. I think Dave A's draw back is the fact we have trouble relating to his innocence, sincerity, and wholesomness. A little too good to be true. He sings on a whole 'nother level. I think too, that even though we wish the best for the little guy- we all know how hard it is to make it these days- at anything. Its just nice to see a 20 something, who has been working so hard for years- achieve a dream. I think we feel, and I don't mean this negatively, but that maybe the more seasoned or older contestants deserve the victory. Little Archuleta has a long life ahead of him.

i think that they should probably just end the competition right now and give David Archuleta the title because not only to i adore this kid, but he has experience and star power that cannot be denied (more than any other contestant). the show is basically over, if little Archie doesn't win than there is seriously something wrong w/ America...man he is like a prodigy, can't stop thinking about how great he is... no one came close!

You are absolutely right about David A. The performance gave me goosebumps! Perfectly pure voice with genuine feeling and emotion. Such professional phrasing and power. And he's utterly charming, humble and delighted to be there. David is already the winner in my book!

David Archuleta has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard--period. This isn't even a competition anymore, we are just seeing where the others place. I think tonight, though, David Cook (last week I couldn't even remember his name) had the most improved performance--he rocked it! And I also love Jason Castro, I just adored last week's song so much. I think there is a niche for performers like him and he will wind up with a record deal regardless of where he places in the competition, however tonight I voted for him because I was worried about his not-as-well-received performance. Michael Johns will make the top 6 guys, but I hope he will be the first of those to go.

Not to be critical but am I the only person hearing those loud gasps for air David A. makes between notes while singing? This is VERY annoying and distracts from what is otherwise a great voice and I wonder if it's related to his vocal cord problems???

I'm trying to put my finger on what I don't like about David A. He's cute as a button, he has a powerhouse voice, he's a good performer... but maybe that's it. Maybe he seems a bit too polished or produced or something. I prefer Jason Castro because he's laid-back, he obviously has fun with it, he gets this deer-in-the-headlights look when he has to deal with all the non-music stuff that goes along with being on Idol. Sure, this week's performance of his wasn't top-notch, but in the long run I think I like him best as a performer and musician.

David Archuleta really just has everything going for him. His voice is phenomenal and his stage presence and charisma are right on the service. He also is getting lots of love from the "idol gods". He was given the final performance this week which is the golden spot if you deliver. The crowd is loving him and the producers are giving the crowd major time to cheer him on. And also, his stylist seems to be on point completely. Hopefully he wont get Lakisha Jones syndrome and peak to soon, but i think hes the real deal.

i mean, seriously. David Archuleta should be crowned now spare us the 19 other mediocre performances. Even his answer to Randy's question about why he sang the third verse was eloquent and perfectly worded. This kid is should run for president. His version of "imagine" could solve the world's promblems.

Have to agree. He really came through. I previously thought maybe he was a little *too* cute, or precious.. but tonight, he was fantastic in every respect. Only thing is.. might be a pretty boring Idol if he keeps this up. Tivo, fast forward to David.. lights out.

Sorry, I think I may be the only person who wanted to throw up after David A. sang. Nothing against the kid, but I hope in the end the biker nurse and another girl play basketball with his cute little head. He turned my heart to cheese, and I think John Lennon even gagged. He's professional and he's got star power and I will admit that he's got an excellent voice, but that's because he's been in the spotlight since he was a kid. I just think he's too much for me. There's something about him that really bothers me, and I can't quite place it.

I'm trying to put my finger on what it is about David A that I don't like... he's cute as a button, he's got a powerhouse voice, and he's an excellent performer. But maybe that's it: he just seems a little over-produced to me. My favorite this week is still Jason Castro. Sure, this week's song wasn't top-notch, but everybody has a bad week once in a while. What I like about him: he's casual and relaxed, his voice has its own "sound" (if that makes any sense), he's got the presence of a true performer, plus I like how genuine he seems--that deer-in-the-headlights look he gets when dealing with all the non-music stuff that goes along with Idol isn't an act, and that's kind of endearing.

All three David's were on top tonight.

I completely forgot about Michael John's performance. Truly forgettable, which is unfortunate because he's one of my favorites.

Jason Castro toned it down a bit. Randy was pretty much on point with his opinion. It's cool that he plays the guitar, but vocally he's one of the weakest. Think Ryan Cabrera.

Luke Menard's Killer Queen was too theatrical for my taste. He's definitely no Freddie Mercury. If you were to take on a Queen song, make sure you have to vocals to back it up.

Robbie Carrico was also forgettable. I was very Karaoke and his voice really isn't very Rock.

I liked Danny Noriega's Superstar performance. Nice and subtle. He was a bit flat one the lower notes though. Million times better than last week.

David Hernandez gots soul. By far his best performance in the competition.

Jason Yeager's in danger of leaving on thursday. Although it was better than last week, his performance was still very Cruise Ship-ish.

I'm happy to see Chikezie do better than last week. I still didn't like the fact that he talked back to Simon though.

I guess when David Cook saw how well the audience liked Jason C's guitar playing performance last week, he decided to play this week. And it worked.

David Archuleta's Imagine was good, but not the best rendition. The arrangement wasn't very consistent as his vocals were much like a rollercoaster, high/low/high/low. I would've liked a smoother consistency with the arrangement, maybe a nice build up. Imagine is a song that should be sung with subtlety.

I'm gonna put Jason Yeager and Luke Menard as the two leaving thursday. Robbie and Chikezie are both in danger too, even though Chikezie's performance was good.

David A. sounded great, I just didn't like that particular version of the song. Jason C. is still my favorite based on last week and some other performances of his I've seen on-line, although he did not do a great job this week. I'm still excited to see his future performances. - I thought Chikezie and David Cook really turned it around this week. Michael Johns is not doing as well as the Hollywood week clips would have led us to expect of him.

David A. is very good, however, we had this last year. Melinda Doolittle was by far the best...she had the best voice, the best everything. But her 'aw shucks, you really think I'm good" act got very very old...and she got booted and we got stuck with Blake Lewis for far too long. David is excellent, but needs to change it up each week to stay fresh...

I put my finger on what I don't like about David Archuleta. He took a John Lennon song that is so perfect the way it is and sang it like Michael Jackson's "Heal the World." That pretty much sums up David A. for me.

The performances in general were much better than last week. David H and Chizekie were much improved from last week esp David H. He was smooth and confident on stage. And he was gracious in receiving the praise of the judges, I like that.
David C was pretty good too but too much back talk to Simon. Yikes.
David A was the best of the lot though, not much more to say to that since everyone seems to love the little guy. And he handled the adulation from the judges very well, he may have been spinning cartwheels inside but it didn't show.

I totally agree with EW writer Michael S. The girls did not impress me at all last night. As an amateur singer myself, I know I have done WAY better renditions of "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Magin Man" so that says a lot about those two performances last night. I absolutely howled at Michael's evaluation of Amanda's performance and look. I think she's gone, as much as I will hate to see her go. The other to go should be the one that did "Crazy on You". She was CRAZY to even attempt it. That song is wicked hard to sing and should be left to Ann Wilson and no one else.
