Player Under Pressure | Bones S:3 E:11
The Jock in the Gym

Fox's promos for this week's episode should have proclaimed "A SORT OF NEW" instead of "AN ALL NEW EPISODE!" "ALL NEW" is really false advertising. "Player Under Pressure" was actually an un-aired installment from last season. It was kept from the air out of sympathy for the Virginia Tech tragedy.
With the backstory out of the way, the episode itself was just a bit 'meh'. While the banter was intact and the Squints were as clever as ever, the episode was merely a solid installment of last season's show, and is a reminder of how much the show has grown in just a year. Also, I really missed Sweets!
The case revolved around a star college basketball player discovered beneath a set of roll-out bleachers. My high school had an identical set of bleachers, and as sticky and gum riddled as they were, theydefinitely weren't as gross as the remains our dear Brennen got to poke through this week. In fact, the ick-factor was especially high this week. Examples: a body decomposing into gray (!?) fluid,Zac and Hodgens' lab experiment with a raw turkey (and ambrosia salad), and blended maggots in a blender normally used for making smoothies. Are you feeling a little sick? Me too.
This episode really earned its "S" rating as well. Aside from all the naked jocks and gonorrhea, it was Angela and Hodgens' security-cam sex tape that steamed things up. In a sort of interesting twist, Angela didn't seem all that embarassed, and was instead quite proud of their performance.
As for our main couple; the episode's final bonding scene was particularly sweet, and really made the episode memorable. Booth and Brennen at their favorite diner, chatted about the case and resolved their issues with Brennen referring to Booth as "a warrior" and an all around decent guy. Did anyone else catch that they were sharing a milkshake?! How cute is that?! Only slightly cuter than Booth with a milk mustache.
I'm excited for next week's truly "ALL NEW" episode.
P.S. Is anyone else as anxious as I am to find out how the whole Gormagon/Gorgonzola thing is going to end?

This episode was hard to watch for 2 reasons:
- The smooshed body was disgusting (I was eating at the time)
- The whole time I kept thinking "This eppy is from last year and seems way out of place."
I'm excited for next week's episode! Looks funny. I'm also wondering what will happen in the Gormagon case as well.

Yeah, I agree about the Season 2 feel of the whole thing. I was distracted looking for continuity errors, and couldn't fully enjoy the show. Season 3 has shown the writers really coming into their own with storylines and plot, so this felt way out of place. Good ending though, with Bones stopping the suicide, and her "fully developed man" speech to Booth. Loved that!
