Royal Blue Top 10!!
By Sara Hull , 05/07/2008, 0 Comments
1. Kristi's royal blue dress was stunning (and sparkly!!!) I really like the quickstep and she was GREAT! However, her mustard mixed with ketchup dress for her Latin dance was a little weird. Although lots of fringe (YAY fringe) it was not cute. And I fell like she just got tooooo excited about the fringe and was shaking her dress for no reason at times (although if I had that dress on, I'd do that same thing... in fact I'd never stop shaking!!) But this is the semi semi semi finals or something and it needs to be PERFECT!
2. I liked that Mark decided NOT to do a lift just because they could. I thought that was smart (I'll let you know why later) But the lift on their quick step although it was not impressive (compared to others) it fit the dance well. HOWEVER!!!! His facial expressions are STILL killing me, his guppy face came back this week.
3. Mario's waltz was the first time in this competition this season that I enjoyed watching him dance. The waltz is one of my favorite dances as well and he was very elegant, and Karina's dress was pretty. His jive was kind of a hot mess.... And I LOOOOVVVVEEEEE the jive!!! I feel like those pink things on his shoes made you look at his feet which were as Len said "Big and Ugly" HAHAHA . Not even his black satin shirt and hot pick suspenders could save that dance!
4. It's nice to know Carrie Ann likes it good and stiff.... Thanks for that visual Carrie Ann. Gross.
5. His lift in the waltz was seamless and perfection. It fit in the dance and was wonderful. It made her seem light as air! HOWEVER the lift in the jive was a HOT to the MESS!! I thought he was going to drop her, actually he almost fell over after it HAHAHAHA.
6. Marissa impressed me a lot. She has calmed down a lot which has allowed her to actually dance. Her foot work is really good and looks like she is losing weight, I think. Her second dance wasn't my fave but I didn't hate it either. I agree with Len.... It was safe. Her first lift was nice but her seond one was a fake lift. BUT I will say that her professional dancer may be my favorite guy on the show (now that Derek and Maks aren't on)
7. Jason's tango was good and his Latin dance was... good but here is my beef this week. Their lifts... talk about doing a lift just because you can. Both were way over the top (and over his head) and both lasted way too long. Edyta's problem is she thinks stupid stuff like that impresses us (the audience, not the judges) but she needs to realize that people who watch this show religiously are practically ballroom dance masters like Len himself and we will NOT be fooled by her hot body and jazzy lifts and poses anymore!!!!!
8. How amazing was it when Len, Bruno and Carrie Ann (mostly Len and Bruno) started to argue over the tango! AH-MAZING!!!
9. Now for the big surprise of the night, Cristian and Cheryl dancing their asses off. First I would like to discuss Cheryl's costume for "Beat It" I know both Cristian and Tom addressed how she looked like a feather duster... but I need to ask, WHY? Why would they put all those hideous feathers on her dress. They are lucky they were good or else I'd dock them 1,000,000 points for a hot mess dress.
10. Then, they came out for the Latin round and redeemed their costume debacle with the sparkle cast cover. That was FIIIIIIIIIERCE!!!!!! You know why he was better this week, because he put all of his efforts (and Cheryl choreographed) to his feet. There was a lot of jazzy foot work and he nailed it. His feet her amazing! He didn't even need either arm. I loved his Latin dance, one of my fave of the season! Her dress was fancy and his open shirt was sexy and they matched but not too much YAYAYAYAYAY! YAY for sparkle cast covers! And his lifts were impressive since they had to find other ways to get her off her feet without him using both arms A+ for creativity!!!!
