Why Lost is So Awesome: Reason #4.11

The force is strong with John Locke. Now it is even confirmed that he is no random potential island magic man, oh no. He was born special. There was an odd sort of favoritism to this episode that implies that Terry O'Quinn may just be a little more important than most everyone else on the show. It also heavily insists that it was fate that brought him to the island. I'm not sure how I feel about all this, but that just may be my own personal feelings about destinies versus creating your own path. And that I that I don't like him very much. This drastically changes the scope of his story (which was about to run on empty in my opinion) and now my theories on his "destiny" have changed as well.

Lost question confirmed: Yes, John Locke is more important than everybody else.

Anyway, Locke and co. were on a hunt to find Jacob's cabin, and hopefully some answers. On the way, he runs into that hippie Dharma dude that was killed in the purge. "Find my body and win a prize!" Well, not in so many words, but that's basically the challenge he gave Col. Kurtz. John fishes through the old Dharma Ditch and finds blueprints to the place he's looking for. Hurley shares his Apollo bar with Ben. These two don't have much to say to each other.

Meanwhile on the Freighter of Fun, Big nasty Bastard, Keamy is totally ticked that Ben knew so much about him. He tries to shoot Michael for the info leak, but the gun never discharges. Curious...Big B has had about enough of all of this and is sooo ready to kick that Island's ass and everyone on it. His orders are to burn it down! (I wonder if he might use a certain dormant volcano's help to pull that one off) In all honesty, that might be kinda fun to see.

Keamy and the captain have words, and then a stand off. Then he caps the cap. One commando got word from the island that the doctor has washed up dead on their shores. But the doc was clearly still alive. Big Nasty helps out with that, too. Keamy can't seem to go ten minutes without needing to kill something. I'm kinda that way with soda. Lost question confirmed: Yes, Island time is indeed not continuous with outside time.

Sayid heroically hops a boat in aim of saving some f'ing lives. Desmond stays behind. This might have seemed a bit cowardly or selfish, but I don't blame him at all. He's been marooned for 3 years, and the last thing he would do is step foot back on the bloody thing and risk his neck to save a bunch of people he hardly knows, and barely cares about. The last time he tried (saving Charlie) it was all for naught, anyway. He just wants to get back to his girl. Actually, I guess that sounded pretty damn cowardly and selfish after all. Oh well, I guess some people aren't the hero type. I could go on and on about how much I love Desmond's complexity, but that's a blog for another day.

Richard, the Ageless makes another appearance, this time in a flashback, hoping to find that diamond in the rough that is John Locke. He pays the kid a visit, lays some items in front of him, and in what has to have been the weirdest (and sure to be most talked about) segment in recent Lost memory, he asks him to claim that which is already his. Among the items are a comic book, a knife, a bottle of (mustard seeds?), and another book, hardback, with faded cover. Lil' John claims the knife, (sooo what I would have picked, too) but this irritates Dick and he storms away. (Too. Many. Questions! Overload!)

Aarrg!

Finally, the moment fans were salivating over: The meeting with Jacob:

"Sorry, Jacob couldn't be here today, but I'll be happy to answer any and all of your questions in his stead." (read: I'll be as vague as I possibly can) -Christian Shephard

John looked perplexed. "What's up, yo!" Claire was chillin' in the corner.

"KljsbdfasWHA??"- John Locke

Me too, John. Me too.

This was an intriguing bit of business. Claire seems to be in full health. Christian does not seem to be like himself at all, and Ben doesn't seem the least bit jealous about any of these on-goings. Does he really need Locke's help this badly? He was acting as if even Hurley knew more about Jacob than he does. Curious...

Like the Dali Llama, Shephard grants Locke one question- And he blows it. "How do I save the Island?" How do y-Are you kidding me? Why, of all the lame-brained... John, John, John...(sigh) Priorities. I agree with you, Hurley. You guys are crazy. It's all perspective, I guess.

Nevertheless, Locke emerges with new orders: "We have to move the Island." Wow. .. John, John, John... Lemme know how that works out for ya

Wow.

Why Lost is so Awesome: Reason #4.11

It moves.

Man, this was a lot of fun. Can't wait for next week. What did Richard mean by "belongs to you?" How does he know John is who he thinks he is? Is it weird that I'm wondering who all else is time-traveling on this show? (I question every character I see now). What makes him special? Plenty of people have been born prematurely. What's the big deal? Was that really the smoke monster he drew? Did Ben mean what he said? Is Locke really the chosen one? Or are the manipulations still in full effect?  Why Christian of all people? Is Claire dead? Is John? Any guesses as to exactly how he's gonna move this bitch? Wasn't he a bit big to fit in that locker?

I repeat: Sayid heroically hops a boat in aim of saving some f'ing lives. How awesome  is he?

I'm not feeling that Abbadon guy: He reminds me too much of that ridiculous Haitian from NBC's Heroes.

And oh yeah, Something dropped from a chopper flyby and almost hit Jack on the head. He and the ladies are going to follow its signal into the woods.

My fondest wish? That there's a time-traveler's chance that Charlie can be saved.

So the hippie Dharma dude's nose was bleeding. Do you think he was time traveling? Remember both dead guy on the freighter and Desmond's noses bled. And it seems Richard goes around looking for "chosen" ones, waiting until they are ready and then putting them on the island. How he does this, no clue. Both Ben and John were born early but, like you pointed out, so are a lot of babies. Maybe he's like Samuel L. Jackson in Unbreakable and goes around causing these things hoping to root out the "chosen" few. I'm also interested to see if we'll find out that all members of the plane were placed there. Claire and John sure seem to have been. One more question, what did Christian mean that Aaron was where he was suppose to be? With Sawyer? Getting off the Island?

Not sure. I'd like to believe time-travel is reserved for only the coolest characters on the show. This one was quite the mind-trip.

Sep292006_899_lg

It was one of my favorite episodes. I really made me feel like the show runners have a plan and we're finally headed in the right direction. I also liked having some reassurance that Claire matters and that she didn't just wander into the jungle never to be heard from again. And if only the coolest characters can time travel then Hurley and Charlie should be able to too. Of course the fact that they still hang out even after Charlie died is pretty cool in itself.

True, true. Cabin fever is a great title. In a way, it applied to everyone we saw last night one way or another. On the frieghter, the special one's on the island...this strike may have been a blessing in disguise, because the writters have really tightened things up. We really feel like we're moving towards the point of no return. Locke, you're a crazy sob!

Sep292006_899_lg

I like Doc Jensen's theory about "moving" the cabin. That wherever in time John "moves" it might cause certain events that seemed false ie. 815 on the ocean floor and the story of the survival of the Oceanic six, to actually be true. All I know is I'm into seeing what's going on and unlike seasons in the past I don't feel cheated.

Oct52007_957_lg

It is a super cool theory! I get the feeling Ben might actually know how to do this. Is it possible he's moved the island before?

Sep292006_899_lg

Well, it could be why Ben said "If you can find it" to Charlie boy. I wonder if he doesn't have this power anymore but was counting on Jacob/Christian asking John to do it. I have to wonder if Ben's game with Charles is related to Jacob's agenda or if Ben's gone off on his own.

John is calm and intelligent. I like his personalities very much.

What is up with that creepy orderly? Who is he working for? Maybe the Others and Richard, because he also wanted John Locke to go to the island. Who knows? This show is so intense!
