Why Lost is So Awesome: Reason #4.12

Now this is more like it! We got a little bit of everything tonight!

I felt a wave of emotion sweep over me as The Oceanic 6 came home to meet their parents. I was sadder still that Kate and Sayid had no one waiting for them. That feeling sucks.

There's No Place Like Home fleshed out the arrival home for our handful of survivors, from the plane touching down to the first press conference, which was really cool to witness. (The media meeting was not unlike the cast panels Matthew Fox and the gang do for E3 and other conventions). Jack basically asked his team to swear blood oaths, and just lie, lie, lie about all the facts. To be sure, not a single one of them seems to be digging this plan.

But lie they did. They kept things simple: short answers, no details.

"What was it like having the baby on the island?" Scary.

"Any chance there might be more survivors?" No.

One reporter outed Kate's fugitive status and called her on her b.s. baby. It was weird to me that this exchange went ignored by all the other press. One of the O6 is a fugitive! And may have a baby that isn't hers! Holly granoli! They should have bombarded her at this point. Anyway, their Oceanic Airlines rep, Ms. Decker,  seemed as intent as Jack on keeping this embarrassing ordeal as mum as possible. She did provide some interesting info on the vicinity of where exactly this Island is, its name, and a timeline of the castaways events up until rescue. Some big deal stuff that I'll leave for the Doc to interpret. They were near Indonesia. That's all I needed to know.  I'll be honest with you, I've never cared about the origins of anything/anyone's names on the show. I don't find any of that important or significant at this point (just fun facts for the geeks)- I'm a big picture person (how are they going to survive/protect/ get off the island, etc.) so I'm not going to get into the mysterious meanings of the name Membatta. The only important question right now is if that woman is telling the truth.

There was still no insight as to the fate of the other survivors yet, (clever dodging) which was frustrating, but now definitely more intriguing than ever. Here's a nugget of a clue: Sun holds her father half responsible for Jin's death. This means if he isn't pushing up daisies, she definitely thinks he is. Otherwise she wouldn't have so vindictively bought a share in her father's company.

Hurley, coming home, was definitely hearing whispers in that empty house. Turns out it was just a surprise party from his family. (Or was it? There was a coconut on the floor.) Cheech fixed up the old car they used to work on back in the day and BAM! Hugo sees those damn numbers again in the odometer (very creative). Hurley goes screaming into the night.

We got to see how Sayid reunited with Nadia. This was touching, but bittersweet because we know her fate.

Jack finally had the belated funeral for his father (they waited all this time?). It was here, in an excellent scene, that Jack finally learned that Claire was his sister. Shaken, but not stirred (he can't let her know he knew her, remember?) Jack threw a look towards Kate and the baby (his new nephew) that suggested this will be a lot harder than they thought.

On the island, we were given a real treat: ALL the stories moved forward.

Sawyer reunited with Jack and they met up with Lapidus and the chopper.

Sayid got back to the beach, but he and Kate were intercepted by Richard.

Faraday managed to get a handful of survivors, including Sun and Jin back onto the freighter- where Desmond is all "full speed ahead!" Except there's interference at the bearing they're headed for. They need Michael to help with the...oh crap, it's C4!

Ben took Locke to the Orchid, and then turned himself in. It seems he lied (again). My one problem with what Lost writes for Ben is that it seems they can change their mind whenever they want to when it comes to what he knows and what he doesn't know; when he's lying and when he's not. I guess I really want to trust the guy, and they make it hard.

The stage is set and the pieces are in place, for what should be one hell of a finale. (Hopefully good enough to make EW's Best Season finales list next year...d-bags...)

Grey's Anatomy: stop running 5 minutes over!

Starting to drive me crazy! the commercial breaks- They're too frequent, too long, and are really starting to break up the flow of the narrative.

Can't wait: for American Idol to be f-ing over!!!

Why is this on here 3 times!! ARG!

I agree with the AI thought Rob. Let's a get a winner(David Cook) so people can talk about Lost and Battlestar more. Do you think that location is where the Island really is? I don't. They have no clue. My head is spinning still. I want to know why only those 6 are off the Island! What the heck happened!? I wonder if will get an answer by the end of the next two parter.

Believe it or not, I think she was telling the truth about the Island's location. We got a big fat question answered, but it seems trivial now compared to the other stuff.

Maybe the O6 pulled a Michael and sold out their friends to get home!

I really want to see Locke and Ben move this Island!

Cleaver. I just assumed she was making that up along with all the other bull.

I really want to see the Island moved too. It's the biggest thing since the hatch as far as Island stuff goes. Of course, I could stand a little more info about Jacob too. Do you think that's who Ben was talking to with the mirror before heading into the Orchid?

I never thought of that! Maybe. I assume he was signalling Richard or a yet to be named other #2, one that's still loyal to Ben's cause (Richard seems to have other priorities in mind.) Think the Others might get divided into 2 factions like the castaways did?
