Remember in the earlier seasons when Ben would show up in the airport or when the show would show the characters before they arrived on the island? I don't remember which character, but when they flashed back to one at the airport Ben was in the background, dressed as a worker loading luggage. So I think Locke got back to America the same way Ben used to. I'm not sure how Ben did that, and the show never did/hasn't yet expanded on that.. but I definitely think that is how Locke got there...
