So You Think You Can Dance: Cirque du Mark
It's full of energetic fresh faces instead of old has-beens.
Uh, yeah... which makes it a lot less fun to blatantly mock the contestants. Duh.
Mocking DWTS takes 2 minutes and can easily be done with YouTube clips and by taking cues from your very own TV Watches on EW.com. I've been mocking that show for ages and have barely watched an episode. SYTYCD is actually a talent competition with a mixture of more contemporary and classic dances with a younger more exciting feel. It just is. You might as well forfeit the throwdown.
If I wanted to watch a high school talent show, I'd go to one. What I don't like about SYTYCD is that it's a worthy competition with a specific goal in mind. Whereas with DWTS, there is zero need for the series to exist, and absolutely nothing ever gets accomplished in any sort of positive direction. It's completely frivolous and therefore really fun. Just as a note, you may wish to consider conducting more research before throwing down.
Considering the success stories from SYTYCD are of more Top Model calibre then American Idol, I'm going to say there is no real reason for this to exist other than pure summertime TV enjoyment. It's so much better to watch sexy young people dance to great music then to watch washed-up has-beens try to fruitlessly revive their careers. Let's look at it like a relationship, would you want to be with some old lady who used to have a career or some agile beauty who has her whole life at her feet? I choose the latter, I do.
I have four words for you: NIGEL LYTHGOE ON CAMERA. Enough said.
What was the best cop show on TV from 1998 to 2008?

What I like about DWTS is that when the show starts, most of the contestants have virtually no experience in doing what they're being judged to do.

Annie! The peanut gallery is making better arguments than you are - we're all waiting....

Oh no he dint. You're taunting Annie? Are you mad?

Amazing and unprecedented use of "dint"!

I've never watched DWTS, and yet I know to my bones it's a crap show. And who says there aren't people to mock on SYTYCD? Cat Deeley is an ENDLESS source of frivolous amusement. And, my god, Mary Murphy's teeth!

Annie is a terrifying throwdown opponent!

Nigel is a scary MF, I'll give you that AB. BUT, after Dance War, how could Bruno and Carrie Ann even appear on camera again. Blech.
