Comparing AI to that movie makes no sense. Are you comparing contestants to being 13 trapped in 30 yr. olds' body? That's the only thing I can think of. You haven't given me any valid points except to say 30 mil people watch it. That's it. What about the lack of talent? The terrible off-key performances with costumes that make you cringe? Or do you wanna look at Paula loving all the contestants? Simon is the only good thing about that show-he's downright mean. Ryan S is just filler, he could be cut completely & no one would notice. And before you say I wouldn't know b/c I've never watched the show, I have tried to watch a whole episode. Like nails on a chalkboard! Even reading through these blogs fans are hating this season already. Give it up, unless you're ready to make a real arguement. Then I'll listen...

I just don't think that basing a general conclusion on your personal opinion makes any sense.
You have to take Idol for what it's worth. It's a show where "nobodies" with talent compete with one another to be the one who ends up making their dreams come true. It's fun, genuine, and somewhat redeeming entertainment a lot of people obviously enjoy.
If it's not your cup of tea, you are entitled to change the channel. Don't knock a show just because you don't like it. I don't like Lost but I'm not stupid enough to say that it's the worst show on TV (that title indisputably belongs to Moment of Truth).
