So You Think You Can Dance: Cirque du Mark
The only thing Sarah Silverman's version has going for it is the fact that it came first. It drew first blood, if you will. However, Jimmy managed to make his bigger and better, while still managing to keep it funny.
On the contrary. Jimmy's was merely funny because of how many celebrities he got to appear in the video. But conceptually it wasn't all that funny. Sarah Silverman's, on the other hand, was taking a gag from the show and turning it into not only a funny concept but also an insanely catchy song.
I did love Sarah's choice to use Jimmy's most infamously jilted guest as her partner in crime. However, Jimmy was able to turn his act of retaliation into something of epic proportions, with or without celebrities. I can't believe you could watch the part where JImmy and Ben softly sing to each other while progressively getting closer and closer and still name Sarah the winner. Jimmy's has a stronger opening: the speech ("I know you're busy with...Matt Damon) and his Perez HIlton style drawings over her and Matt's pictures. Throughout, Jimmy just one-up's every single one of Sarah's lines. He's got a bunch of different locations, scenes of him and Ben being a couple (I love the toe painting!), costume changes, and a celebrity-filled choir. Plus, it isn't just random D-list wannabes in his skit. From Robin Williams to Brad Pitt, I mean, he got Harrison mother-effing Ford to blow him a kiss! That in itself should declare him the winner. P.S. Nice voice Don Cheadle! And, though Sarah had a Hollaback Girl-esque breakdown, Jimmy had a hilarious Josh Groban interlude that had to make you laugh out loud. Sarah's was cute, but Jimmy's was better, hands down.

They were both equally funny until Harrison Ford entered the equation. Han Solo ALWAYS wins in an argument. Also, go watch "I'm F***ing Seth Rogen".

I agree with you Counteragent. Not to diminish the Sarah Silverman video- it was brilliant, truly- but as Affleck said later in the interview, Ford is basically the quintessential of genuine masculinity over the past 20 some years.
When Harrison Ford blew that kiss to the boys in his car, I nearly doubled over in laughter.

Bigger doesn't always mean better. I mean the part with Harrison Ford was funny. You can't deny him. But I like the Sarah Silverman song better. My favorite part is when she slows it down and talks about going fishing. So random.

My favorite part of the Silverman song was the 'Hey Jimmy- What do you think of them apples?'
In thinking about it, I suspect the natural next step in all this is for Jimmy and Sarah to make a dramatic recovery and for Ben and Matt to make a song of their own...

Both were extremely funny and complement each other, but I liked Silverman's better. Kimmel had the star power, but Silverman's was more original and funnier.

They were both hilarious; I can't say one is better than the other.

They were both hilarious - I laughed more during the Silverman one, but I was more impressed with Jimmy's (HOW did he get all those amazing people)?
Both were great!

Yeah, it's hard to choose one over the other, but it's much easier to react to something that already exists than to create from scratch, so I'll give the nod to Sarah. She didn't have to rely on star power for her humor.

There is one funny part of Kimmel's version: Josh Groban's uber-serious singing. Too much of it relies on the gag of: "Hey! It's two guys having sex!" The jokes are tired and something that you might hear 15-year-olds making in gym class. The idea itself could have been funny if Kimmel had treated it as something beyond sexual orientation. Like, the fact that Affleck was a guy was incidental and F***ing him is the only logical response to his girlfriend F***ing Matt Damon. Instead, it is unable to make up its mind as to what the joke is. Is the joke the "We are the World" parody? Is the joke that all celebrities are a little bit gay?
Is that even a joke? I mean, I'm not saying don't make gay jokes (I'm gay myself), but please, a little originality. "Gay guys wear short shorts! Gay guys have sex in public toilets! Gay guys have sex in prison!" Yeah, those jokes haven't been made before.
