More people know about two and a half men or some of the other CBS shows, but How I Met Your Mother is witty, hilariously funny, has a ridiculous amount of catchphrases and a more lovable cast!

I think that the best CBS comedy is "The New Adventures Of Old Christine" because it's stories are much more realisitc and it's characters are much funnier; plus Julia Louis-Dreyfuss has more talent than anyone else on the entire CBS network (except possibly Letterman).

I like New Adventures of Old Christine, but I think HIMYM plays to a more general audience and is more memorable. Everyone will remember Slapbet and other HIMYM episodes, but I can't think of one episode of Christine that stands out like that.

Maybe this is unfair because I've seen more episodes of "Mother" than "Christine", but I would have to give the nod to "Mother" here. Each episode is pretty quotable and I think the flashback-style storytelling is creative for a sitcom. And Neil Patrick Harris is super hilarious.
I'm so excited to have that show back on the air in a week!

HIMYM is very much under appreciated. It manages to do the long running jokes (with references to future episodes, much like Arrested Development) while still maintaining its appeal for a much broader audience. It has my vote for best CBS comedy.

How I Met Your Mother is hilarious. It's a traditional sitcom but with a new twist on storytelling, a clever, young sense of humor, and an amazing cast. Every other show on CBS (with the exception of their reruns of Dexter) are things I would never watch voluntarily. How I Met Your Mother is a shining light in the dark at CBS, which is drowning in non-funny "sitcoms" and old people friendly programming.

As mentioned in the comments already, the storytelling is what makes HIMYM shine above not just the sitcoms on CBS, but almost all sitcoms currently on the air.

HIMYM is the best half hour comedy on TV. The Slapsgiving episode got me through the strike! I will give boidiva02 credit and say that Christine is very funny but HIMYM is a CAN'T MISS.

Yeah, HIMYM is the best original show on CBS, with Christine behind it for second. Sure, I love Two and A Half Men but it is starting ride really thin. Thank you for doing this throwdown!!!
