This is the one with Brad Pitt. It's my all-time favorite episode, and it's without a doubt the best of the Thanksgiving episodes.

For one thing, you've got Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston absolutely hating each other. Remember, this episode was back in a time when Brad and Jen were THE Hollywood couple to be. Long before Angelina dropped in, they were the It couple, so seeing Brad play a character who absolutely despised Rachel was fab.

Then you've got the actual plot. The "I Hate Rachel" club is funny enough, but the fact that Ross transforms in this episode from "No no, no no" to "I'm back in the club!" is genius. The dialogue is top-notch and it's easily the best of the Thanksgiving episodes. This episode has been on my DVR since I caught a rerun on TBS a year ago.

Also, for your consideration:

- Chandler and Phoebe yelling things at the game they're fake-watching ("It was a moral victory for the Green Bay... Mermen.")
- Joey and the maternity pants
- Ross making out with the school librarian ("HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT!?")
- Chandler: "Everybody at MY school heard about that! You were the hermaphrodite cheerleader from Long Island!?"

LOVE IT.

I have my work cut out for me, my friend, as this is one of the great Thanksgiving episodes. There are many more, though. I'll use each of my arguments to spotlight three just-as-awesome Thanksgiving eps to prove it!

I'll start with my favorite: "The One with All the Thanksgivings" (Season 5), where the Friends all recount their worst Thanksgivings, which results in a series of hysterical flashbacks. We can thank this episode for the following:

-Chandler's parents telling him they were getting a divorce because his dad was sleeping with the houseboy ("More turkey, Mr. Chandler?").
-Phoebe's past life Thanksgivings when she was working as a war nurse (apparently) and got her arm blown off twice.
-Joey putting his head in a turkey to scare Chandler (the visual is priceless)
-Fat Monica developing a crush on Chandler, who makes fun of her to Ross
-Thin Monica (one year later) "seducing" Chandler for revenge, which culminates with his losing a toe
-Finally, Monica wearing a turkey (and giant sunglasses!) on HER head, doing a ridiculous dance. Bizarrely, this is what prompts Chandler to tell her he loves her for the first time, which is a HUGE moment for the show

Yes, but where's BRAD PITT? ;)

Throwdowns like these are really just fluff, as it's all a matter of who laughs at what. If I may, I'll cite some more hilarious lines from this episode:

In regards to Mrs. Altman's picture in the yearbook:
Ross: "She didn't photograph well!"
Chandler: "Well she probably wasn't familiar with the process, having spent most of her time sitting for oil portraits."

Phoebe yelling at the football game, which she's not watching:
Phoebe: "****, ref, you BURN IN HELL!"

Phoebe talking about her past:
Phoebe: "I never got to be in a club. I didn't go to high school. But three of us would meet behind a dumpster to learn French, bonjour!"

Monica asking Will (Pitt) and Ross about the club:
Monica: "Hey, is this why you guys used to go up to your room and lock your door?"
Will and Ross: "Yeah."
Monica: "A little relieved, I gotta say."

When Will reveals that Ross was in the "I Hate Rachel" club:
Rachel: "Well who was in this club?"
Will: "Me... and Ross."
Ross: "No need to point, she knows who Ross is."

BAM, COMMERCIAL.

Ahhh, I love that episode.

No Brad Pitt in my next episode, but lots of terrific drama! Here's "The One with Chandler in a Box" (Season 4).

After Chandler kisses Joey's girlfriend Kathy, Joey says Chandler can only make it up to him by spending Thanksgiving in a large box. (Long story.) This storyline is incredibly funny, but it also provides some wonderful moments between these two characters. Chandler tries to justify kissing Kathy by stating he cares for her more than Joey does and that Joey always gets the girls. However, Joey is nearly heartbreaking as the stand-up guy of the situation who asserts that he would never lie to his best friend--and since Chandler is so important to him, Joey would've given Kathy up if asked.

Other great moments:
-The sight of Monica in an eye patch (after ice gets in her eye) and doing ridiculous impressions of pirates
-Monica and the on-call eye doctor--Richard's son!--kissing and then freaking out b/c he kisses like his dad
-Ross (Rachel's Secret Santa) complaining Rachel always returns his presents, then eating his words when Rachel produces every souvenier of their relationship. She kept everything important, she says. One of my favorite Ross/Rachel moments EVER.

Forfeited Turn

One of my favorite trademarks of "Friends" is how competetive Monica and Ross are with each other. The holiday episodes highlight that dynamic really well, especially "The One Where Ross Got High" (Season 6) and "The One with the Football" (Season 3). Since the former has been discussed in the comments section, I'll discuss my favorite moments from the latter:

-Monica and Ross challenge each other like tough guys for the Gellar Cup . . . which turns out to be a troll doll nailed to a piece of wood:
Monica: "Losers talk!"

(period). I go over 1200 characters every single time and have to go back and omit like crazy. This time, I lost my period (insert joke here).

Great arguments guys...I can't vote yet...I'm torn...maybe your next coupla arguments will help make my decision for me...

Apr152005_815_lg

I don't know which side to vote for yet either...but I do know that reading this has made me want to go watch some old Friends episodes to relieve all the hilarity!

I think my favorite Friends Thanksgiving is called The One Where Ross Got High. Monica and Ross' parents come for dinner and Chandler is trying to make a good impression. Problem is they hate Chandler because Ross once told them that Chandler was smoking weed in his room. All through that Phoebe talks about some crazy dream she had, Rachel tries to make dessert, but messes it up and Joey is trying to get out of Thanksgiving early to meet some girl. Eventually everyone gets angry and my favorite quote is born:

Monica: And Dad, you know that mailman that you got fired? He didn't steal your Playboys! Ross did!
Ross: Yeah, well, Hurricane Gloria didn't break the porch swing, Monica did!
Monica: Ross hasn't worked at the museum for a year!
Ross: Monica and Chandler are living together!
Monica: Ross married Rachel in Vegas! And got divorced! Again!
Phoebe: I love Jacques Cousteau!
Rachel: I wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle!
Joey: I wanna goooo!
Judy: That's a lot of information to get in 30 seconds.

This throwdown makes me miss Friends so much it's pathetic.

Sep152006_897_lg

Agree with Cpt sassy pants. that was the best thanksgiving ep for friends. totally loved it

May112007_933c_lg

It's tooooo hard! :(

Which one is the one where Rachel makes the desert and it's half from one recipe and half from another? Because that was hilarious.
...I think that was a Thanksgiving episode, lol.

Mar252005_812d_lg

That was "The One Where Ross Got High," which Cpt. Sassy Pants sited. Another terrific one! The Friends' Thanksgiving episodes are all so fantastic.

Mar52004_754_lg

God, Friends sure knew how to do Thanksgiving right! All of the episodes sited are great. But because it was Cpt. Sassy Pants, and not Melissalane, who sited my absolute favorite Friends episode of all time ("The One Where Ross Got High"), and the two episodes that Melissalane did site are not in my top three Thanksgiving episodes, but "The One With The Rumor" Is, I'm going to have to vote with Mr. Strong. It's on a technicality though. Let me just put that out there!

Mar252005_812d_lg

That's very good reasoning, DRS248, but please remember that I have not unveiled my third argument (containing a 3rd Thanksgiving episode) yet. "The One Where Ross Got High" was one of two I was considering; now, I'll do the other. But doesn't this just prove that there are too many to pick just one?

Feb132004_751_lg

Oh, I miss Friends. All time favorite episode? The One Where Everyone Finds Out... or something like that. When Phoebe tries to seduce Chandler and Monica is in the bathroom... Awesome!!!

But, I had forgotten some of these Thanksgiving episodes... I keep laughing out loud reading this. The others in the room think I am very, very strange.

July272007_945_d_lg

K Peck--

I have been trying to convince my friends for years that the episode where Pheobe tries to seduce Chandler is THE best Friends episode ever. I'm glad I found someone to agree with me.

I like any Thanksgiving episode with flashbacks to Fat Monica, so I'm going with Melissa on this one.

Dec32004_795_lg

Haha, I'm glad that everyone liked the episode I mentioned. Here's a clip of my favorite part from youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3o8lpgko4U

Also, I love love love the episode where Pheobe seduces Chandler. I think it's so funny. "They don't know we know they know we know!" Definitely the funniest episode. Which could probably spawn another throwdown.

Mar252005_812d_lg

Oh, no, I accidentally hit "Send!" How pathetic! The quote went:

Monica: "Losers talk!"
Ross: "Losers walk!"
Chandler: "Actually, losers rhyme."

I was also going to mention Joey and Chandler flirting with the Dutch girl and Joey confusing the Netherlands with Neverland. Oh, well; throwdown's over!
