The Academy Awards need a much better revamp. While it's true that the Emmys leave out shows on a regular basis, for the most part you know who the nominees actually are. With the Academy Awards, there's a good chance you never saw the movie or heard of the actors. It may be true that from a cultural perspective the Emmys could use some more revamping, but as drawing in audiences goes, that's all on the Academy Awards.

OK, I see a lot of people have already voted against me, so I'm almost certain that this is moot. But anyway...

So the Emmys have left out shows. But at least their selection process makes sense. Look at the Academy Awards. Ratatouille was a great movie that should have been considered for Best Picture but since it was animated it was shoehorned into the Animated Movie category only.

And the rules for what makes an Adapted Screenplay vs. an Original Screenplay? And the requirements about when and where the movie aired are so vague no one understands them. And how the hell did Norbit get an Oscar nomination?!?!?
