Some people think the show is jumping the shark by doing this, but I gotta say when I read then news it was the first time I was actually excited about the show getting renewed for another season. Season 3 just wasn't the same without her. The only reason I even continued to watch Season 3 was because of Wentworth Miller...and even then it was iffy.

What? SWC's coming back? *checks google* Huh...consider me surprised...

Although I wasn't bothered about SWC leaving the show, I didn't like how the writers handled it. After all the crafty stuff they came up with in seasons 1 and 2, using a weak Se7en homage is the best they concocted? Couldn't they just continue using the Sara double until now? Hey, it didn't hurt the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, when the producers swapped Aunt Vivian's actor at the height of its popularity, so who's to say it wouldn't have worked?

To be honest, after season 1, I didn't really care for Sara and Michael's relationship, because I think the escape marginalized the personality the core characters had during their confined circumstances, including them. I didn't really witness any chemistry between the couple afterward, which made Sara (like LJ) turn into a liable, tag along compatriot at best. I wasn't really affected by her 'death' like other PB viewers, except the pedestrian (though grim) way the writers ousted the doctor.

I wouldn't say I'm upset. Just...very apathetic about it. I'm not even going to question plot implausibilities, because that went off the scale the day Michael stepped into Sona.

An article that I read said that they kept the possibility of bringing her back in mind all last season and made sure to watch their steps so that it wouldnt' seem too implausable. Linc only looked in the box for a split second and LJ said that he closed his eyes when they killed her. I like Michael and Sara together, but even if they aren't together I just love the character of Sara. This is a show where female characters are lacking since they killed Veronica off in season one and then it seemed as if they killed Sara off last season. I was very affected by her death and I am extremely glad they made the decision to bring her back.

Well, I'm glad about one thing with this move. Bringing Sara back will repel (or a least reduce) the criticism that Prison Break's nothing but a misogyny fest. After 2+ years of loyalty, I was amazed at how many people spit on PB with accusations of women hating after showcasing Sara's head in a box (yeah, it's a bad death, but holy crap). But that's for another debate.

Still, this reeks of desperation on part of the PB writers, even moreso than ressurecting Tony Almeda on 24 next season. It's obvious they need something to reel back a lost portion of their viewers since season 3, which was more or less a lukewarm affair, even without Sara's decapitation. Even the most frenzied of PB fans probably feel exhaustion at this point and only watch out of dedication. SWC's return hardly changes anything for me, or even the show, besides a possibly more optimistic ending and a revived romance I never bought.

Regardless of what the writers do, PB needs to hurry up and finish, because it's tried its audience's patience at this point (at least Lost was worth the effort). Season 3 started out great, but now the show's floundering from oversaturation.

Im a feminist but I certainly don't think that her decapitation was misogynistic. Even though they have killed their only two female main characters...they've killed plenty of male ones as well. And they only killed Sara because she wanted a leave of absence after she had her baby, I believe.

I don't think it reeks of desperation, I think they listened to the outcry by the fans, I've read that that had a part in them bringing Callies back. I only watched season 3 out of dedication, but season 4 I am anticipating thanks to them bringing back my favorite character.

I don't agree with the misogyny claims either. I'll just leave it at that. I knew about SWC's baby being a big reason behind her exit, but I think the PB produces jumped the gun too fast. Then again, no one anticipated the strike factoring in on this season, which they openly admitted as a small reason.

Of course the PB producers want to keep their fans happy with bringing Sara back. They're not trying to impress anybody else. Personally, I would rather see Michael going the vigilante route and take down the Company, Terminator style out of anger for Sara's death (hey, PB can't get anymore ridiculous at this point) , but that might not happen now.

I can't say this news affects my nonchalant attitude one way or the other, but it makes me worry the writers are losing the small edge they still have over Prison Break. I'm still going to sit through the series, for (hopefully) better or (unsurprisingly) worse, and see how Sara's return will affect season 4.

Maybe I've done a bad job as a Prison Break devotee, but I had no clue about SWC's return until now. If this is news to anyone else, here's a link from TVGuide that should answer your questions/concerns:

It just came out yesterday or the day before...I was just so excited I wanted to make a throwdown about it. I read it all over yesterday though.

Mar142003_700_lg

i really have to say....i wanted this throwdown, but the phrasing was what got me...sarah wayne is great, if it's sara tancredi that is coming back there is where i have problems. her death (conveniently skirted around or no) happened as far as this show should be concerned. is she coming back as herself? as her evil twin? as someone else who just really looks like sara to throw michael off his game again? that all remains to be seen and i don't think i can vote fairly until i know how that will happen, but hey, s3 was an enormous cluster---- so this can only be better!

Jan132006_858_lg

You know what loglady? That never crossed my mind. From what the TVGuide article said, the PB producers plan to sneak her onto the current plot and explain what happened. I doubt it will get that abstract, but I wouldn't put it past the PB writers at this point.

Mar72003_699_lg

I believe she is coming back as Sara Tancredi...and even if it stretched beyond the reality of the show (which I dont think it does) I would be fine with it just to get Callies back...

Mar142003_700_lg

exactly, it will really depend on how she's worked back in for me...i really loved, like loved, like it was a child loved, seasons 1 & 2, then there was 3...i tried so hard to be excited for it every week, but just couldn't, the eps sat on the tivo for months before i watched them, and it wasn't the PB i remembered...that said i look forward to her coming back, now if only we could get robin tunney back too!!

That would be awesome!
