I'd have to agree that as anime goes, Wolf's Rain is one of the IF NOT THE saddest, most depressing, teardropping anime's I have ever seen. It's hard to explain without giving spoilers. You'd just have to start watching it on DVD.

Generally, Adult Swim doesn't show alot of great stuff. Full Metal Alchemist and Bleach non-withstanding. Even when they tried to show Eva it was at like 1 AM Central.

There's a reason it's not on at 10 PM. And it aint sex o massive amounts of gore, I can tell ya that much.

I think Bleach is kind of overrated, but Fullmetal Alchemist (besides the tepid sequel movie, Conqueror Shambala) is excellent. It's just as effective with morally ambiguous characters as Battlestar Galactica. Also, unlike some anime like Evangelion or Trigun, which shifts from a humorous show to a darker one halfway through the series, it has a nice balance between the lighthearted comedy and serious themes.

Agreed. Fullmetal could literally have you laughing, wanting to cry and gasping in horror in ONE episode. It turned themes on a dime and it did it with class and style. You never knew what to expect but it always made sense.

Bleach is overrated by 13 year olds for sure, but watching it in Japanese is good fun. I was pointing out I don't dislike [adult swim] at all really.

Naruto is GREAT in Japanese too. I'm not suggesting everyone has to like thse shows. I am saying just becuase they are popular doesn't mean they suck.

Well that's true (i.e., not all popular anime sucks), but the really bad ones are butchered anime shown on Saturday mornings. I also like some of Adult Swim, but I prefered the earlier versions to how it is now. Still, if I need something to watch, it's tolerable.

As for Bleach and Naruto, maybe it's because my tastes broadened, but shonen anime doesn't attract me the way it used to (well that and an overdose of DBZ). I haven't read/watched Naruto recently, but I got tired of Bleach pretty quick. It started out interesting, but ever since the Soul society arc, it's just a shallow fighting anime. I could accuse Naruto of the same, but I like its characters more. Still, I prefer a deeper plot than what shonen anime seem to provide recently.

Bleach is fun to watch (I am finishing up the SS arc now), not to own. Naruto, I like it enough I will start picking up the UnCut versions sooner or later.

Neither show holds a candle to the complexity and depth of shows like Full Metal, Eva, RahXephon, etc. The thing is, they aren't TRYING to. I don't watch Naruto because it's the new Evangelion. I watch it because it's fun and interesting. Same with Bleach.
