1) Naruto season one (Pre-Shippuden) was animated poorly. Though Naruto is an anime, it is still an action series, which has a realistic style. But many things were proportionally inaccurate and coloring style was less than up to par making it less enjoyable to look at.
2) A few fights were actually outstanding in Naruto season one, such as the Neji and Hinata fight in the Chuunin Exams. They used 3-D animation for those episodes only. Don't tease me with a few good scenes. The Chuunin exams were an exception to the rule, but after that, the animation quality went back down.
3) Bleach has far better cell-colored quality, using the color to express to mood of the moment. As in ep. 166 when Orihime overcame her fear of Ichigo's Hollow state and cheered him on. (Can't reveal much more though it's good)
4)The attacks in Bleach are better animated. Like Byakuya Kuchiki's bankai which is thousands upon thousands of petals that are animated to look like shiny shards of metal.

Overall, Bleach's fights look cooler than Naruto's.

I disagree. Naruto is a much better animated series overall. The stories and characters are way more interesting and fleshed out. Watching the development of Naruto and his classmates is thoroughly engrossing. Plus, watching the fight scenes is fantastic! As you said, they use 3-D and other quality techniques that make viewing the different ninja skills a wonder to behold. In fact, animating fight scenes is what Naruto does best.
*The Chuunin Exams-Gaara v Lee, Neji v Hinata, the Hokage Battles
*Naruto v Sasuke, Hinanta v those Bee ninjas, Lee v Kimimaro
*Gaara v Kimimaro...
Okay, some of those battles are not season one but they are pre-shippuden. If the early seasons weren't great, the series wouldn't be allowed to continue, hopefully not ad infinitum.
I tried watching Bleach but I found the core story boring and a bit confusing. The characters didn't seem to mesh & several relationships seemed forced. Plus that possessed teddy bear(?) didn't help things at all.
The look of a show doesn't impress me as much as the QUALITY of the stories. Perhaps Bleach is better to look at but Naruto is better at entertaining. That makes Naruto the more quality anime.

Some of Naruto's animation does look pretty stiff and awkward, though at the very least, it gets the job done. I'm more irritated at the overdone flashbacks and purposely molasses inducing snail's pace that affected much of the later pre-Shippuden, non-filler episodes (or what I'd like to dub the DBZ syndrome). I said screw it and started reading the manga if that's what I have to look forward to.

I thought Bleach was pretty cool until the Soul Society arc degraded it into the typical shonen fighting anime (again, DBZ's bored me of these kind of anime). I hadn't read a chapter or viewed the anime for months. I'm pretty glad I did, because I hear the filler factor's much worse than Naruto, and the Naruto anime turned unbearable.

But if it boils down to visuals/animation quality, Bleach wins. I still wouldn't watch it over Naruto though.

So...you're saying you kind of agree with both points. Bleach has better visuals BUT Naruto is still better to watch? Okay, I can live with that.

Both shows lack a ton of great quality. "Look at me I'm fighting in a black robe or poofed away again!"

That's what happens when you have a show going 100+ episodes. Things simply don't look as detailed as they could. Movies and series with a shorter run always look better.

By the by Naruto gets the nod from me simply because of the vibrant color style of it. Bleach is very bland in that respect.

I agree with ya Ozzie. Cowboy Bebop is the ultimate for LOTS of reasons, one being that the series didn't drag on until you didn't give a damn, like say...Inuyasha or DBZ.

Let's be clear, I love Naruto. Shippuden is even better. Bleach was good for about 60 episodes but now I am getting bored.

Most series I like are either 3 epidoes long or 26.

Bleach is better period.

It is true that both are fighting series and both focus about getting stronger or protecting the ones you love. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I personally like them both and I think each one is throwing in new things to freshen the stories up. HoneyBunny and I both ADORE Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw star etc, they're well written and well animated.

Though, Ozzie, The Bounto series in the anime (I don't know if you saw that or not) was actually written very well, so much that many people thought it was another arc instead of filler. If that happens, you have to give Bleach its props.

Things is, I am midway through (Episode 70 as of now) and BECAUSE of Naruto I can now spot filler right away and this stuff REEKS of it. There is no real progression for the characters, like, at all.

Outlaw Star is very under-appreciated too.

I like tons of series myself (I'm a nut about the stuff). With no message board it's hard to articulate that though.

Naruto and Bleach are done by the same company. They are weekly shows. They aren't that different. "Spunky" main character with an attitude problem constantly suprises his enemies and wins over incredible odds (sometimeswith a tad bit of help from friends). Don't overthink it folks, the people who make this stuff don't.

Outlaw Star was outstanding! The music and the story was wonderful. Voice talent was excellent too.
