It's so unique and original in both story/content and graphically, the characters are hilariously charming and the love story is beautifully done. Plus the randomness of a lot of it keep it interesting and fast paced. Plus who couldn't fall in love with Digby!

Although i do admit it's a great show, and very much one of the best- i think the best of the season was "The Big Bang Theory" which took an old concept, the stanard 3-camera sitcom and turned it on it's head by having hilarious characters and hilarious storylines. Sheldon is by far the funniest sitcom character of this decade and Jim Parsons is a comedic find. Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuco have perfect chemistry. This show rocks.

The Big Bang Theory is a good show and definitely brings laughs, but Pushing Daisies has so many more layers, it has comedy, drama, mystery, a little bit of sci-fi action with his power to bring back the dead, a love story, and it can definitely make you cry once in a while. It is a show for people of all interests. I think Big Bang Theory has a more specific audience that would enjoy it and many others who wouldn't find it funny. Someone mentioned Reaper being a good show as well and although I agree, it took it a while to build up to the great flow and creativity it has now. Every single episode of Pushing Daisies so far as been amazing and unique.

I just do not get the love for PD, okay it's a good, fun show but it's no where near as funny as TBBT which is far more realistic in it's storylines.

A show doesn't have to be realistic to be good, most shows aren't realistic. Pushing Daisies gets its humor from the little comments people make and random actions like getting interrupted during a musical interlude. TBBT is a different kind of funny which lies more in the characters themselves. PD may not be for everyone, but for those who do watch it, it is amazing!

well for me when i say what is the best show i think about the following: can you tune into a show in the middle of the season and understand what's going on? with PD you can't, unless you've watched the whole season you can't. Will it last a long time and play well in syndication? PD no it won't- it will look aged and dated in syndication, TBBT will look new and classic in syndication. therefore it's a better show.

Love Pushing Daisies. I miss it so much. Can't wait for it to start up again. It's the cutest show about murder victims ever!

Since ABCSOAPS55 mentioned it... I don't get all the positive buzz that "The Big Bang Theory" gets. It's not particularly original - few sitcoms are, though, so that is not usually an issue for me. But... when you take a highly original, funny, well-written piece of eye candy like Pushing Daisies...? I mean, no contest. There aren't any other new shows from the fall that I looked forward to more. Can't wait until next fall with new episodes!

Random gets it by the phrase "in the fall"
Eli Stone I felt was a teensy bit better, but released later.

I'm leaning towards Pushing Daisies here, but I have to check out the complete list of new shows from the fall. Reaper comes to mind as one that can contend with Pushing Daisies as far as my week-to-week enjoyment is concerned, even though it's probably nowhere near as critically acclaimed.
Between Pushing Daisies and The Big Bang Theory, however, Daisies wins by a mile.

If we're saying "before the writers' strike" than the answer is Burn Notice. If we're saying just Fall, then give me Reaper.

I obviously haven't seen every new show, but from what I've seen, Pushing Daisies is by fra the best show/

ABC, your last argument went completely over the edge. How is it that Pushing Daisies will look "aged and dated" and The Big Bang Theory "new and classic"? PD is about quirky, original characters living in a visually stunning fairy tale world; TBBT is about stereotypes in an apartment.
Honestly, TBBT just never appealed to me, so I haven't really seen more than a few minutes of it, but what I DID see involved typical nerd-based humor coupled with current pop culture and technology references. You can't have any real idea how that sort of stuff will hold up over time. I remember the computer I got ten years ago when I started college. It had a Pentium 133MHz processor and dual hard drives sporting 2GB and 1.2GB for a whopping 3.2GB total space. The jokes could be every bit as obsolete as that computer is now. I don't want to see a "World Of Warcraft" gag NOW unless it is relentlessly skewering it (a la South Park) so I definitely won't want to see one in ten years.
I have to take issue with your criteria for a great show. Syndication? There are plenty of good shows that haven't run in syndication AND plenty of dreck that's run for a long time. If TBBT runs longer in syndication than PD, it'll be because it's relatively cheap to purchase and it's easier to fit into a schedule than the hour-long PD.
A good show is one you can follow when you start in the middle of the season? Well, that excludes Lost, which won an Emmy for Best Drama, if I'm not mistaken, as well as numerous other popular or critically acclaimed shows in recent years.
You said the following in your first argument: "'The Big Bang Theory'...took an old concept, the standard 3-camera sitcom and turned it on it's head by having hilarious characters and hilarious storylines." That's not really turning anything on its head, is it? I mean, that's the goal of all comedies, so you must think all sitcoms weren't any good prior to TBBT, I guess?

Oh, another show I really liked was "Life", though I'm not sure how much of that was the show itself and how much was Damien Lewis.

I could not agree more with Huzzah. So many of the best shows could not be "started in the middle of season" b/c they are telling complex, deep stories. Dumbing down for the the new viewer does not make anything better.
